I think that means falling demand. How does that increase house prices?
Usually you like to post about how things will mean increasing house prices. If people can't afford a house, demand falls.
Demand is those willing and able to buy at any given price.0 -
But with prices continuing their fall, things will get better.
FTBs just need patience and a good deposit.
Really? With London prices rising a shade under 10% YOY, according to the Nationwide, house prices for many people are rising rapidly.
Even the falls in the housing market in NI finally seem to be petering out, which must be a relief for everyone over there.
See page 1 of the latest Nationwide report for details:

If I were a FTB, I certainly wouldn't bet on any falls. If anything, I would wait to see what this budget brings, and then buy.0 -

Unfortunately it was the big fat bulls that made the beds that the poor old bears must now lie in.0 -
Im a ftb, I bought at 1.99% over base.
I believe the point the OP is making is that FTBs now require large deposits to avail of rates such as these.
I got a similar rate last Spring through First Direct, but it was only available to those with a deposit of 40% or more. I believe thats now come down to 25%, so at least things are moving in the right direction for FTBs0 -

The OP is doing nothing of the sort. He is doing his usual trying to blame the current property climate on people wanting lower house prices, when it is obviously the opposite, in that it was all the greedy individuals and banks who helped create the ridiculous current situation of the housing market which in turn has left a bitter legacy for many people either wishing to move up the property ladder and FTB's.0 -

How are they supposed to save a "good deposit" when rent is more expensive than a mortgage in 75% of the country?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Hardly a good example.....
None of your drivel ever computes.
Well, at least you can sleep uneasy with the fact I negotiated 30% off original asking price in a beautiful area of the country.
I wonder what the benefits cut trial in Aberdeen is going to do to your prices?0 -

Not much.
Aberdeen has one of the lowest public sector dependancy rates in Scotland.
By the way, I notice you still haven't addressed the issue of your situation being completely non-typical for FTB's....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I am a "bear". I do lie in the bed I made (well I bought it actually). The bed is in a bedroom in a house which I have also bought.

Well, that may be so, didnt stop your pathetic attempts to wind me up on here for a year or two. Unfortunately for you, I have been proved right; not only did I purchase well off peak market value, I also managed to significantly reduce the length of my mortgage payments.0
