  • A couple of things that made me think of this thread whilst out and about.

Sainsburys have small gold star shaped bowls at the moment with their napkins and disposable cutlery-may be useful for pots of gold? Apologies if already mentioned.

Also if any of you have a local SCRAP store it may be worth investigating. We are members of our local one and for a cheap yearly membership we get access to a whole host of unlimited recyclable materials for free-treasures include brown, green and red felt(perfect for Christmas), old greetings cards-envelopes still useful, ribbon, lengths of foil left over from chocolate wrappings and white card.

Oh dear craftfairy that's not good!

Can anyone point me in the direction of a link to the pretzel bags used for the Liz Shaw mints? Can't find anything on ebay but I am tired and so might not be looking in the right place :o TIA :D

It's so frustrating isn't it, I have had to chase all my ebay purchases and ring all companys I have bought from to see if there is anything else missing has taken most of the day:eek: Maybe I just shouldn't buy so much:( The annoying thing is 2 of them were xmas presents and just hope no more go missing as it has given me a headache trying to sort it out.

    WOW

I've just come across this thread, and i've not had the time to read each post, i've had to flick through, but i'm so amazed, by what you have all done.

I do make my own cards, and i can make nappy cakes, but i'm going to now start and make some christmas home made gifts.

but can i ask a few questions 1st.

1 - for the mini advent calendars, which are made with beer mats, how do you get the corners so neat, plus do you just put 1 page of a calendar on it, or stick the whole 12 months on.

2 - where can you get strip magnet from, for the back of the pegs.

3 - Somewhere early on in the thread, someone made gifts in small silver/white small tin buckets, where can i get these from?

4 - i fancy making some sock cakes, but how do i make the cup cake at the bottom,

5 - are the 3d toppers from matalan

Thank you so much for taking time to answer.

You really are very good at crafting.
  • AS promised I have done a simple Peg Fridge Magnet tutorial. Hope I'm not teaching my granny to suck eggs, but I know there are a lot of non crafters here who might appreciate a very simple and cheap starter project.

    You will need
    pegs_thumb%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800

Pegs from Poundland/Home Bargains etc. usually about £1 for 100 pegs.

    pva_thumb%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800

    Some good PVA glue

    Anitas%20Self%20Adhesive%20Ribbon_thumb%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800

Some ribbon, for ease I’ve used Anita’s self adhesive ribbon (99p per pack – with careful cutting you should be able to cover 24 pegs with one packet), but any sort of narrow ribbon would be as good.

Some magnets (available from HobbyCraft either in small packs, a foam sheet or self adhesive tape).

I got some house shaped magnets that they had free on the counters in Barclays Bank a while back, I'd take SEVERAL every time I went in. I cut them up into stripes and lasted me ages

    beads_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800
Plus anything you like to decorate the pegs with, I’ve used wooden beads from a 99p wooden bead set from Home Bargains.
    Picture%20005_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800
Cut the ribbon to size and stick down on the peg.
    Picture%20006_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800
Glue the magnets on the open end of the peg.
    Picture%20008_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800
When the magnets are dry, turn the peg over and decorate the reverse side (directly over the magnet)
    Picture%20012_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800
I’ve added a few wibbly wobbly eyes and some flat backed gems as an extra fiddle fart>

    Simples!
