  • BItsy Beans - STUNNING CARD - really really stunning, I bet you are so chuffed!

Can I share with you what I made this afternoon ...... I am so thrilled with it!! And its in the true of MSE as it only cost me £1.70 to make

    Old%20Crock%20recycled%20Cake%20Stand%202_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800

Its a cake stand made from three mismatched blue and white plates in three different sizes with two glasses as the columns

    Old%20Crock%20Recycled%20Cake%20Stand_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800

Stuck together with a good strong ceramic glue - £1.50 off the market

My mum gave me the plates as she was having a chuck out and the glasses were 10p each from a charity shop.

If the idea worked, this was meant to be a present for a girl at work who is cupcake mad, but I don't think I can part with it!!! So I am going to have to go hunting for some more plates to make another one ...... but I think I could get addicted to this idea and make lots and lots for presents this year.
  • Flyingpig, I just love your cake stand!!! * goes off rooting through plate cupboard *

    Hi,
I keep intending to go to the glitterpot....not sure what it is like though. Have you been yet?
Where are you based? I am in Haywards Heath.

Might see you at some of the local fairs

    Hi,

I've been there a few times now. I think it's well worth a visit if you're that close, it's the biggest craft shop I've been in and they do seem to do nearly everything. I'm in Crawley so a bit further away...

flyingpig58- Thank you very much for the advent calendar idea on page 25 (I think). I have spent all afternoon making these and they are so very cute!

cheekycat1 and Nichelette- I also intend on visiting the glitterpot sometime soon, as I am based in Brighton. Might be worth the train journey!

I was seeing a lot of signs for Wivelsfield station on my way so I think it's fairly close, though you might want to look on google maps if you're walking from the station. I lived in Brighton when I was at uni, I so miss it and would love to move back there, but OH works in Leatherhead so it would be a bit of a treck for him :(.

  • OK here is my attempt to recreate a card similar to the stunning one Flyingpig made.

    5106979695_749ebb1c47_m.jpg
I've chosen not to draw the heart but I've put a single pale blue gem on the lower branch. the other gems are clear. You can't see in the pic but I've also glued white glitter along the line of the fence and along the bottom.
Not bad - my card and the white paper don't match and I think it would look better as a square card but I can't afford to spend any more money on this so this is how it will be, like it or not.

Your card looks fab - it's a lovely image - thanks to flourgirl for finding it.

    And some more cards......

5108213370_701c825d58_m.jpg Please ignore the pants embossing - when I heated it up it went all funny. the Xmas trees have little gems on them, blue and red.

5108212356_dfb5f1e36f_m.jpg This was made from some gift labels I bought from Matalan yesterday. £1.50 for 20. Stuck it to some cheap glitter card (VERY chemical smelling I must say) from Tesco.

5107614403_1f9161296e_m.jpg Used my new square scallop punch, 2 strips of the cheap glitter card and some Anita's embellishments.

I am coming to the conclusion though that apart from my black Xmas card I think I prefer layering colours rather than using a coloured card for a base. I dunno why but I just feel it looks more "home made" when I use a coloured card, especially the green one rather than hand crafted IYSWIM :o
They didn't take me too long really, I had a two hour break having a gossip and a hair cut with my hairdresser mate ;)
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
