I had a business for 2 years selling sweet bouquets, I loved doing it. I was really busy around occaisions like Valentines, Easter etc but the rest of the year was so dead. It was never viable as a full time business as I found people weren't willing to pay the money(and this was pre-recession) in general and shipping them was a bit of a problem as they were so tall. They didn't work at craft fairs either as people frowned upon them as not properly handmade :(

Those piccies are lovely, it brought back so many memories!

My best seller was sticking 2 raspberry ruffles togetehr and wrapping them as rosebuds. I sold them singly or in vases of 6 and 12.

  • Whilst I'm on the subject of spending, (soap box time!:D) could I remind people on here, that you don't have to have a die cutting machine to make these fab creations, as Helen has already (fabulously) demonstrated.

To make the sweets & chocolate packs you could get xmas/monkey/halloween, etc. images from Google, which would cut the costs even further. :money: You also don't need the bag sealer either, just use self-seal bags, cheap double sided tape or staples (if the contents are already in packets).

Hope you don't mind me saying this, :o but I'm trying to think of your purses, especially with the horrendous cost of Christmas coming up...

    (I'll get me coat)

No need to get your coat hun I agree it can get expensive and if people are thinking of buying die cut machines just to do christmas craft ideas then they really should think twice :D

Bitsy beans the cards are lovely.
cheekycat1 I do love those cookie cutters what a fab idea

Hi qwiksave just wanted to ask, if I seal bags with double sided tape and have put a couple of unwrapped chocs in each one, will the chocolate be stale by christmas morning or does it stay fresh?

Hi Bitsy Beans how do you do that handwriting with the little bobbles I see being used on these forums, is it a stencil?

hope you dont mind me saying - but often local craft shops hire die cutters along with dies - lot cheaper than buying one and you could have a cutting out session - maybe club together with a couple of friends and get together with a bottle of wine - set up a little factory line - lol just a thought!

The lolly one I use pipe cleaners to wrap around the lolly stick and selotape around, then I bunch them all together and wrapped some selotape around again. Then it is just some card and cello and done. I am charging £15 for the chocolate one and £5 for the lolly one.
thankyou, ive finally finished mine, will put pics up in a bit :)

No I did it free hand :o I nicked it off Flying pig. Basically write the letters individually and all haphazard. On various points of the letter stems I put a blob.

    Flourgirl - I luuuuuuuurve you :T You've just saved me a tenner :T

danemi - Thanks for the tip re hiring a die cutter. Never thought of that :D

Flyingpig - No need to get your coat. You've inspired me to have a go at this (and it's been a while since I've been this enthusiastic about something :o). Yep I'd love all the kit but like you say it doesn' have to be like that.

Lovin' the ideas ladies, can't wait to see some more pics :D

DSCN2403.jpg some christmas cookie cutters with poem.
My sister in law backs christmas cutters with card. She then puts red and green M&Ms in them and then seals the top with cellophane. She also adds ribbon loop to the top so they can hang on the tree. She lives in America so easier to get red/green sweets but Morrisons are selling the red/green M&Ms now for christmas.

I have been making some paper cones from 6" squares of scrapbook paper, christmas designs. Keep the paper square and form a simple cone. These will have ribbon loops and will have sweets in to sell at my young grandsons school fayre. The image is NOT my work just an image that shows the simplicity of the task ;)You don't need to do a fancy edge. I make mine small as I like them that way and not too many sweets to fill them Sorry about size of image
