This is a simple gift to give instead of a card .... its a translucent bauble that I have just put a word in ...... I used "wish" but it could be any word that means anything to you.
I just found a font I liked and printed the word off ..... ripped the paper round it for a "torn" effect and then sprinkled with a translucent fine glitter ..... simple, easy and quick ..
The baubles were from Paperchase - for no more than 50p each (they also did boxes of 9) -
You can't buy a card for that price ..... and it's a lasting gift.
FlyingPig, I can't find those baubles anywhere, including Paperchase's website. Could you link to them please? I love what you've done with them, what a fantastic idea.Saving for a house deposit.

His hat is made by cutting the fingers off "Magic Finger" gloves - I see they are selling 2 pairs of these gloves in Primark for £1 - so for that amount you can have a lot of hats - and that many fingers allows you for a few mistakes!
The buttons and eyes are black flat backed gems I found in Paperchase. The carrot I admit is something special ...... but I managed to get some other carrot buttons on e-bay for a reasonable price and cut the shanks off. But you could also draw a carrot shape and cut it out.
The scarf is made from a piece of ribbon (from East of India)
This is a deluxe version I admit ..... so I am going back to the drawing board tonight to see if I can make another one using simple materials - but keeping the glove fingers!
The things you make are absolutely fab and as a beginner to these things I would like to say a huge thank you :T to you for taking the time to post pics and explain everything :T. It's really wonderful of you to share all these tips, so a big thank you from us here :T:T.0 -
I don't know if they'd be any good but there are packs of ten ( I think ) glass baubles in hobbycraft for £1.99 - I keep picking them up thinking I could decorate them but then I'm not sure if I'd be any good at it so I put them down - I might just have to buy them this week an have a go at this , the only worry I have is that you say tearing the wording round the edges but I know I would end up tearing it in half and it would look like a five year old did it lol
did you sprinkle the wording with glitter or put the glitter in the bauble ??
Try using a small paint brush, dip in water and tap off excess water. use this to draw a wavey line around your word - makes a bit easier to rip as will only rip the soaked part of the paper.

Hi Kaida
It's early for shops to be putting out their Christmas stock yet ..... all I can say is keep looking. I am going into Manchester round about 22nd Oct and will have a look in the PaperChase there.
However I got these a couple of weeks ago from Hobbycraft for £1.99 a box
They are smaller than the original ones I used and don't have the irridescent shimmer to them .... but I am hoping to do something with them ..... not sure what ..... may have a go at painting one or two. But the top comes off easily to put a message, word, glitter, feather, stars in etc.
Some of the B & Q type shops had plain glass baubles in last year. So whoever spots them first ..... post here?????0 -
I had a look in Accessorize today, and they had 2 sheets of Christmassy stickers. One sheet had lots of snowmen, similar to yours, and the other had a variety of reindeers/penguins/santas/gingerbread houses etc. They were £1.75 a sheet as you said. They were really small though, I had imagined they would be bigger!
In the pics you posted of the little blue bars of choc with the 3 snowmen on, what did you use as the backing paper? And also how do you do the white glittery bit? Sorry for all the questions
The felt snowman with the glove hat looks awesome, I will definitely have to give it a go! Thanks so much for all your help and ideas :Tflyingpig58 wrote: »Hi Tiara ..... the stickers came from Accessorize ..... I know its a fashion shop but their stickers, found amongst the girls stuff are BRILLIANT. I am waiting with baited breathe to see what they bring out this year ....... they cost £1.75 a packet and are just the right size for the sweetie bags.0 -

Hi Tiara
Yes, the stickers are small but ideal for small projects like the chocolate bars and cards.
The paper for the small chocolate bar was plain blue, but I have used a white gel pen to draw the snow and snowflakes.
White gel pens are brilliant for Christmas crafting.
The glitter is hologram micro fine glitter - its almost like powder, which I apply with a fine glue pen.

Have a look at the above link for the glitter - this is like the stuff I use.
This is the pen I use to use the fine glitter - its like a biro - but allows you to do very fine detail with glitter etc. I will be going to HobbyCrafts Show at NEC in Nov and will be looking for special offers on these ..... I think they cost about £2.99 from Craft shops.0 -
The Advent House started out like this - Tesco have been selling them for a couple of years now at Christmas for £5 which is a bargain .... and a lot of crafters have bought them to "do" up - like I have done.
I am not sure if Tesco are doing them again this year .... I have written to them but have had no answer. All I can say is keep looking out for them and if anyone spys them post it here.
There are other similar houses for sale in various craft shops online - but they are a lot lot more expensive ...... so please, please Tesco do yours again this year!
I've covered mine with a good scrapbook paper ..... it took quite a while, as each drawer had to be covered and then I had to varnish each drawer several times after covering to seal it all.
The snowmen were from Hobbycraft - pk of 5 for £1.99 - the snowflakes were a one off find from a gift shop ..... and I made the knobs using square beads from a Poundland necklace which I spray painted and then glued a square gem on the top.
It was a labour of love and hope its the one thing my children fight over when I die!!!!!0
