  • Hi,

I need your help crafting fans,

I saw a Big Shot for sale at our local garden centre which also stocks loads of stickers and bits and pieces and it was priced at £75.95 but there was a sticker on it that when you take it to the till they will take another tenner off making it £65.95.

Is this a good price? There was nothing wrong with it, they had a few and were all priced with the saving. I'm just wondering if I should get someone to buy me one for Christmas hint hint

    Tooti xx

If your just looking for the big shot machine you can buy them for around £58.50 brand new e-bay

or the starter kit which has 1 bigz die and 2 sizzlits dies and 1 embossing folder (I own this one myself) for £80 e-bay
    or £99.99 in Argos...

Not a massive crafter myself but love my big shot:)
Garden Designing available for the fraction of the costs!:D
  • Hobbycrafts have the BigShot reduced to £59.99 with free delivery

They also have accessories reduced, although I don't have a clue what goes with what.

  • Hi, I've been a bit of a lurker this year!!!:o
Have just finished all my fairs...had 10 in November....am shattered.
I too manaed to sell out of most of my small bits at every fair so was very time consuming remaking....

Just a hint....those that make pints of socks/flannels if you go to the cheap card shop...(cannot remember name for life of me) they have 6 christmas gift bags for £1 in a big basket ...I gave one of these away with every pint recommending that they buy a drink to go with it! Sold out at every fair at £3.50 a go!

Also this year I made flannel cupcakes for first time and found some cake pods (clear cases) to put them in on ebay and sold out at each fair for £3 a go. Have finally got a shop that may be interested in some bits for mothers day.....rollon 2012!!!

back into hiding.....will try and join in more next year,.,. meanwhile many thanks for all the inspiring bits that everyone does.
    Merry Christmas!
Trying to earn some pennies from crafting again this year!

Well done cheekycat1 on doing so well at your fairs! :T I have one tomorrow and another on Friday. The cake pods sound like a good idea...using cellophane for mine this year. Making more sock cupcakes as we speak, using one sock as the "case" and the other as the "cake"...saves me a lot of work making my own cup-cake holders!! :D

FiFi Mad Mum, kategregory and mrs tooti-frooti - I have been toying with the idea of getting a big-shot, but have so far resisted. Might get one in the future though! :)

Can I ask what you all use as the 'cherry' on top of your sock or flannel cupcakes please?

Last year I used bath pearls, but can't find any this year.

  • I use florist flowers on the wire....can get at most haberdashery shops.

I am just getting everything ready for a school fayre. It's only my second craft fair, but after the first I have got the bug! :D

I am selling a lot of jewellery and pretty items, but have also knitted some play food as well as made packets of:
    • Snowman Soup
    • Christmas Fairy Kisses
    • Christmas Elf Smiles
    • Penguin Poop
    • Magic Reindeer Food

I found that the reindeer food sold really well at the last fair.

I've just seen the suggestions of pet treats, which is a fab idea. Are there any pics?

Didn't do anything this year..forgot if truth be told :o Last year I used beads cut from some of my Xmas decorations.

Had a fair yesterday..didn't go well. Only sold just under £15 of stuff. Table should have cost £15, but lady took pity on me and waived the fee...I gave her £5 as a good will gesture, so only made just under £10!!! I wasn't the only one who sold hardly anything, so a bit of a damp sqib for everyone. Lots of people, but hardly anyone buying. Got some lovely comments about my things...but they didn't like them enough to buy them!!
    :(

Going to try a different tack and take some samples into a local hospital for the staff to look at. I will ask them to email me their orders and I can take them in when I have a post-op check-up on Thursday, or possibly next week before we head off to Scotland. Have my last fair on Friday at work...surely it will go better!!

Sorry for the moan, feeling a bit down today. Hope everyone else's fairs went better than mine :D.

Need to concentrate on getting all the Xmas pressies made/sorted and get some of them posted. Luckily only have one more big parcel to send as delivering the rest by hand.

Have a great Monday everyone x

So sorry to hear that the fair didn't go well Keiss.
I've done a couple, not selling crafts, but the stuff I sell on my websites, and they are hard work and so disappointing if they don't go well.
I find with hand crafted stuff, people look, admire, then walk away unless you're virtually giving stuff away. Such a shame :(

I stick to making things for family and friends. Made these today

Lovely makes cuddles, and thanks for your advice. . I have always made things for my family and thought I would try to see if I could possibly make a living at selling things...so it's not going well atm!! Perhaps I should try selling things on-line..I'll have a think about that. :undecided:think:

Not achieved very much at all today, felt so down..mentally and physically. Guess I am still recovering from my op still (still only 4 weeks ago) as well as the fair yesterday and lack of sales.

Now I need to snap out of this morose state and get going with tea. Poor DS2 is outside in the rain and dark moving the logs that were delivered yesterday from the front of the house to the log-store at the back. He did have the chance to do this yesterday, but couldn't be bothered, so he is suffering now!! Mind you, the weather will be soo much worse tomorrow, so perhaps that's what is spurring him on tonight!! :D

Looks like the weather is heading for nasty tonight, so hatches need to be battoned (sp?). Take care everyone xx
