    thanks for your comments :)

i love to craft things in my spare time and have no fancy machines (although i would loooooove one ) or a printer atm so it is all done by hand

I think that's just it thought, you don't need masses of fancy equipment.

In part that's the appeal of flyingpig's ideas; they really are so basic (for want of a better word!) and accesssible for all. Sometimes you can flick through a craft or cardmaking magazine and by the end of the article you have a list of items you 'need' to make that one card and the cost for all the punches, die cuts and stamps can easily add up and half the time can be wasted purchases!

I know there are a few things like the scallop punches and nestabilities dies that can be beneficial to a project to achieve a specific look, but likewise equally stunning results can be achieved via other methods and as with many of the things people are making, there are so many variations and products out there that can be easily and cheaply utilised.

I have a very different outlook now when browsing in shops like Poundland, B&M, Home Bargain - I am looking at what can go in a sweetie bag, be altered or embellished or form part of a card.

I have two of these Fine tips on my desk ...... and can't craft without them, brilliant .... especially for really small fiddly stuff

    http://www.finetip.co.uk/buy-now.html

Am I correct to assume that if ordering from here, you get the glue as well, as the nib, and pin? It isn't clear from the blurb.

    Thanks

Aww, no, it doesn't - it's just the applicator bottle & tip. :( On their tips & techniqes it states:

Does the applicator come full of glue?
No. Every crafter has their own particular favourite when it comes to glue, some like it thick and tacky others like it well diluted. Many crafters even have two or three of our Applicators each with a different strength of glue inside for different purposes. Our Original Fine Tip Applicator comes completely ready for you to fill.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your help. I may get the one off ebay then, as it was only 1.99, an you use your own bottle of glue. Think I can find a pin to put in the top.

I buy my ribbon from this ebay seller: linklin2008
Overseas seller, takes about 10/15 days but prices cannot be beaten (correct me if so) I have ordered LOTS for my crop group as we thought it was pretty decent for the money.
130 yds of grosgrain for £9 ( we bulk bought to save P+P ) Not sure what size you want but def worth a look.
  • I wish where i lived we had £shops, the best shop i have here is a morrisons. Fingers crossed i pass my driving test (2nd attempt!!) on tuesday, then can get in my car (sat outside waiting for me!!) and go shopping. Rather than having to wait till the weekend for the OH!!

For anyone interested i bought this magnet....

Cut in down the middle (Was too wide for the pegs) and its made 36 with some left over. Could easily of done 50+

Just a quick question - where's the cheapest place to get white pipe cleaners from? The white ones I stained with tea worked out really well so if they are cheaper to buy white I am happy to stain them ;) I'd rather not rely on the internet - it's getting a bit frustrating having to wait for various packages to arrive. I've got lots of things half done and I'd really like to be able to complete them and move on to the next thing.

Those of you who are thinking of buying The Works card wallets and using them actually for cards - an A6 card fits in lovely but the C6 envelope is too big. Now that doesn't bother me as long as the card is kept secure but some of you might not be happy about the envelope being separate.
