YAY postie has just been. Thanks so much to both flyingpig & flourgirl who both came to my aid re the holly leaves!!!!!
I have researched the ES mint prices at the wholesaler & can get 300 for £11.99 +VAT so they aill come in useful. What is the shelf life incase they don't sell LOL.

i always found when i bought canes there were a couple always broken
so i break them more, and add them to white chocolate and use that
as long as you temper the chocolate it will keep shape and shine
if you dont, your "bark" will be soft at room temp and you cannot hang them

They do look fab - any suggestions for a UK equivalent of Bark Bars?/

Could you not melt some choclolate & 'weld' them together so they are just the silhouette (sp) heart?

Sorry I forgot who you were. Thanks for the link, would you care to enlighten us on tempering (what works for you ) as there are a few of options I believe & we need a tried & tested method.
  • i use a bain marie/double boiler when tempering chocolate
(if i am just making rice crispie cakes etc i just use the microwave, but its easier to control them temp in a double boiler)

i add roughly 2/3s of the chocolate i am using
and melt to a temp of

    plain choc - 118-120f
    milk or white - 116 - 118f

    take off the heat
    and add remaining chocolate
this will bring the temp down
keep stirring until it reaches 80f (no matter what choc)

add to heat again and bring temp back up to

    plain choc - 88-91f
    milk or white 85-87f

    tempered choc

    Hi

I am just waiting on my pretzel bags and SU punches etc and I am good to start on the ES mint bags :j:j
I have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to answer them.

Craftgranny - I loved your T-Bag Cards, do you get 2 x cards from one A4 sheet? They look smaller in the picture but when I measured a coffee sachet against the A4, it was just under half the size of it?

The 4 x ES mints - do they just sit in the pretzel bag upright or do you attach them to something?

What kind of glue do you use to stick the cut out circles on the ES Mints?

Do you use plain white card at the back of the ES mints?

Sorry, I am just trying to plan in advance in preparation for my items coming. :o

I have done some of the wee cute reindeer things, think I am still too new to upload a picture :(

  • Macpep 1, you should have no trouble uploading a picture. You need to use an image hosting site like tinypic or photobucket and post the link from there :)
It's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission ;)

I get 2 cards out of an A4 piece of card for the coffee ones and 3 for the teabag ones, I use DST to stick the circles onto the ES mints, for the back of the mints I use the same colour as I have done the scalloped circle on the front. The pretzel bags are just wide enough to put the mints into so they just lie in the bag one above the other.
You should be able to post links on here now as you have done loads of posts but you will beed to upload your photos to somewhere like photobucket and just copy and paste the link code from there.:D

macpep1 i get 3 cards per sheet and on the coffee ones i tuck the flaps at the top of the sachets under to make them fit in.

as mummyslittleboy said i use dst to stick the circles and on the back i use the same colour scallop as on the front.

I haven't had trouble with them sliding down the bag they are a good fit.
i use photobucket for my pics too.
