Hi,
just tried booking a flight with my plastic Net+ card (worked 2 months ago) - Ryanair DECLINED it and the amount is still PENDING it my Neteller control panel... Any idea on this? So do Net+ cards not work anymore?!
Thanks...

Yep two reasons. Happened to me
1- money is shown as pending- therefore its not (if you like) cleared into your netplus account and therefore unable to spend.
2-you dont have enough funds prior to the pending amount. Bear in mind cost on how you did transfer to net plus. Only one way is free.
I keep a slush fund now, i spent ages doing the research to avoid the stealth tax and got it wrong costing me £40 when the fares went up.
My mistake0 -
Hm, none of the two seems to be the case - the amount is pending and I still have funds on my account, so there has bees enough money on it before Ryanair took it... Also, the funds were already cleared...
Can it be important that the card is a USD card? Ryanair doesn't restrict usage of a GBP/EUR/whatever card though...0 -
I wrote last week that I also experienced a Ryanair decline message using Neteller: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2756522
Did the website invite you to "Try Again" with a button so-labelled?
I got the message twice and then on the third try it worked. However, I discovered afterwards that my first try had actually got as far as an (unconfirmed) booking reference even though the payment had failed.
So actually I have one good booking reference and one unconfirmed duplicate.
I strongly suggest that you check the "Manage My Booking" section on Ryanair's website after each attempt. Use Option 3 and access any booking by simply using your email address, date of flight and route information.
If you find you have an unconfirmed reservation, then you will have to call the Reservations Dept to pay for it before you can use it.
I am not sure about the risk of just ignoring any unconfirmed booking and starting a fresh booking although I did just that without realising.
In my case, it was a small amount and I won't be using either booking as I have since made other commitments.0 -
There was a further twist to this ... we discovered that Neteller made a mistake when the original funds were deposited in the Net+ account via Visa Debit card. They only charged their 1.75% fee to the debit card and forgot to charge the original Deposit
, yet they had credited the Net+ card account with the whole amount expected, and we'd eventually (see above) managed to spend it leaving Neteller short of the lion's share until they noticed.
They emailed a couple of days later saying they'd be debiting the balance. I wonder if there was a general systems c0ck-up like this at Neteller ?0 -
And yet another twist this morning ... the flight with the unconfirmed booking (because of the Net+ declinature) was scheduled for Tuesday just gone. As I said before, it was a cheapie and I decided not to use it anyway.
But I have just today (Thursday) 48 hours after the flight departed received a bog standard Ryanair Itinerary for it showing the reference but no flight detail. The Payment Detail is 0.00.
Perhaps unsurprisingly I can't view this booking reference online any longer.
I have a feeling that the beginning of the glitch may have been Neteller's mistake in making a one legged transaction in their books, but it surely has tripped up Ryanair's system on this occasion0
