is there away to sent 14k by faster payment?

Is it possible to transfer £14k from a HSBC account (buyers) to another HSBC account (sellers) so the money is displayed in the second account instantly?

Im selling a car and the buyer wants to pay by bank transfer and as far as i can see the Faster payment limit is £10k?

Any other thoughts?

    You can pay my CHAPs but this costs. Otherwise, do it over 2 days.

    According to T&Cs, internal transfers have no limit....

    You can request it by PIB, TBS or EB. Trying to find out what these mean.

    EB is Express Banking machine.
    PIB = Personal Internet Banking
    TBS = Telephone Internet Banking.

    Split is across 2 payments? I know my limit for sending money to my partner is £1k, but there isn't a limit on the number of payments I can send.

    As it is HSBC to HSBC it probably won't be a faster payment but should still be instant..
    I believe the limit is still £10000 per transaction.
    If you need to transfer £14000 then make two transactions each less than £10k.
    I don't have a HSBC account but do have a First Direct account which allows multiple £10k transfers.

    Yes but "internal transfers" are defined as transfers between accounts in the same name.
    See page 3 of the current account T+Cs.

    CHAPS or cash ...... if you want to complete on the day. And the buyer may have to hang around until 1730'ish if he wants to view the car before initiating the CHAPS - (which he should sensibly pre-arrange with his Branch if 'phoning it in after viewing).

    Or FP ('immediate' system limit is now £100k .... but no Banks do that yet on personal accounts) spread over 2 days. Or a Draft .... if happy to do it over 4 days
    If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • Bankers draft?
    Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.

    ..... not really as that's been a specific system limit ever since FP crawled onto the stage in May 08. It's just been lifted to £100k for 'immediate' payments from 6/9 ...... but I don't see Banks offering that on personal accounts for a while.

    ............. as you're both with HSBC take him into your Branch where he does a cash withdrawal and immediate credit to your account. Cashier doesn't even have to count the notes - it's just a debit / credit.
