We got a bonus for 10 years service at Wilkinsons, didn't stay long enough to get mine.

On a boring note check with your accountant about gift allowances for long service awards. I can't remember what they are but I know there are tax allowances...if you just give cash that will of course be taxed but I think certain gifts up to a certain limit can be gifted. Your accountant should know, if your employee can avoid being taxed it will be worth a lot more...on the other hand don't give too much and then they will unexpectedly get taxed.
(Sorry to be so vague, I haven't any staff due for long service for quite a while)0 -

Which branch of CS is that then? In DWP it was a choice at 25 years of an extra week's leave (only for that year), or choice of gift up to ( I think) £125.00 but it had to be something you would keep, not a meal out or similar. I used mine to buy a limited edition steiff paddington bear so it will only increase in value. I think its 20 years service now though.0 -

Come to think of it, it was £250

I own and run my own company (actually now 2!) and we have a contract with a large "rewards" company that do gifts/vouchers/experiences etc for a lesser price than organising it myself.
I used to ask around the office for ideas for gifts but now I just hand the employee the catalogue and they choose what they want. They do everything from a painting of a spitfire to an AI stay in India for a week.
They have 4 catalogues in different bandings from "cheapo" to "mega-expensive" and each gift from the catalogue costs the same.
My staff love it, and I don't have any issues with benefits in kind etc as they invoice it.
Google and you will see lots of them.

If they are good why not just pay them a decent bonus every year or every good job done.
If you go down the service route you have to do it for good and average.
Having said that my company used to give decanter, I was succesfull getting them filled for our 10 year service employees(now all redundant including me).0
