Have a look at this site, in particular the item on the cloning of stolen cars and VIN plates.

I'm sure the authorities would be interested to know this as it is a money launderer's dream venue.
Does not matter in the slightest. A vendor can take whatever payment they see fit they DO NOT have to have a card facility available.
Whether this is best practice is a whole different matter the fact is they d9o not offer a card facility so cheque or cash please."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
I'm not disagreeing with you. If they accepted postage stamps then the customer has the option to pay in postage stamps.
What I am saying is that its abit weird that they won't pay the £40 or so a month charge to be able to take card payments but are happy to take large amounts of cash given that a) they presumably have to count the cash b) store the cash somewhere until it be taken to the bank c) getting it to the bank safely d) having to go through the fuss that is required of them by HMRC with regards to money laundering.2014 Target;

indeed but it is their choice to do so.. all those that have posted in this thread about a garage accepting a payment on card and such like is a waste of their energy."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

He did say I could pay by cheque and also after the lock is fitted onto my wheelchair for me to drive from I could take it back home that night.
If people read the above it would seem that the car dealership concerned may not be what everyone seems to think it is.
It sounds like a specialist in wheelchair adapted vehicles; in which case many of its sales may well be done through Motability etc., and they may not have the need to be geared up for CC or DC usage.
A car adapted to take a person driving from his/her wheelchair really is not your usual business.0
