Santander £100 for switching

I'd ask Santander, but I loathe speaking to them, so would rather ask here.

I've recently opened an account with them to get the £100 for switching. I've just noticed a deposit of £100 with the following reference:

'BANK GIRO CREDIT REF B&B RETURNS, 100 INCENTIVE'

Is that them? It looks like it to me and I wasn't expecting £100 from anywhere else. :money:

    Yes, it is.
The '100 incentive' is a bit of a giveaway! :rotfl:

I know. :rotfl:I guess the bit about B&B RETURNS confused me - I have been anywhere, or sent anything back. ;)

I guess I can think about closing the account now I have my cash! :D

Thanks for the above. I got a £100 credit too and was a bit puzzled by the B&B RETURNS as well. I guess it must be Bradford & Bingley-related, as Santander bought their current/savings accounts, although I've never been with B&B.

I was a bit worried that I wouldn't qualify, as I had a fairly new A&L savings account and an old A&L current account, both of which I had forgotten about! The fine print says existing customers don't get the credit, so I was lucky there.

Their admin is pretty shocking though. I think I might switch back to Barclays now I got the loot!

    Cheers, Neil

    i Guys

When you switch using their Switching Team/form, do you need to close your old a/c. I know that in some banks we do not need to close the old a/c all they need is:
    -Fill in the Switching Form
-There must be 1SO and 1DD in the switching.

    How about Santander ?.
    - Do you need to close your old a/c ?
    - How many SO and DD must be available in the switching ?

    Thank you for your info

The answer to your question is to qualify you need
1 direct debit transferred by the switching team.

It does not matter about the standing order

Can not wait to switch back after the year they are truly poor but it would be rude to ignore the 5% interest :rotfl:

What do you think if people just give 1 DD of their old Credit Card which is not used so much activities anymore.
Could it be successful to get £100 switching incentive ?

Can I transfer from A+L to Santendar since they're the same bank?

Edit: Found out I'm not eligible but if I close my A+L account I'll be eligible after 3 months =D

I was in a Santander branch yesterday to open a Reg Saver account.

Whilst I was there I spotted the £100 'bribe' to open a current account where I could park £2500 for a year at 6%. Too good to ignore.

I too have an A&L current account and was told it was fine to swap from that, as A&L and Santander current accounts were still 'separate'. This wasn't the current account that I used to 'swap' though; I used one of my Lloyds current accounts that has just one DD which funds the new Lloyds Reg Saver which I opened last week :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Life didn't used to be this complicated did it?

The Santander advisor was really helpful and definitely on my wavelength re how to do things. He was told by his manager that I could only open one Reg Saver, but he came back to me and said if I went in next week and opened another, no one would check that I already had one. 'They all had targets to meet'.

    Hope this helps.

This is so wrong on so many levels, are the alarm bells not going off in your head? If not I have an uncle from Nigeria who needs to move lots of money to the UK but doesn't have an account here, if you could post your Bank details and pay a small arrangement fee you'll gets lots of cash in return.

When it all goes wrong you only have yourself to blame.
Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.

I think this comparison is highly inappropriate.
Santander's like any other high street bank in the UK is protected under FSCS up to £50,000.
