Santander £100 for switching
Comments

I wasn't saying that Santander or this rate was a scam but rather it was a comment at the greed/gullibility of the poster. Taking advice of an exceptionally poor employee.I too have an A&L current account and was told it was fine to swap from that, as A&L and Santander current accounts were still 'separate'.The Santander advisor was really helpful and definitely on my wavelength re how to do things. He was told by his manager that I could only open one Reg Saver, but he came back to me and said if I went in next week and opened another, no one would check that I already had one. 'They all had targets to meet'.
Wow so the source was the same person who is telling you to break the rules/scam his own organisation is the one that then says they don't care because of their own targets? Even though this was against the express direction of the manager?
Impressive judgement shown there.
Scams work on greed but a bit of stupidity never hurts either.Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.0 -
You can't swap from an A&L to a Santander current account. That finished on June 30th 2010 when both went onto the same computer system.
The Super Regular Saver at 6% is for non-Santander to Santander switching customers. It is one per customer only. You can have multiple standard regular savers at 4%.
You are also perfectly within the T&Cs to use the Preferred In Credit Account as a savings account however, the £1000 funding must come from an external account, or in the form of a cheque payment0 -

Oooh, this is a bit harsh.
Someone asks if they can use account A to open account B and I report what I was told by a bank employee. I go on to make it clear I didn't follow the advice of this employee and used an account from another bank.
As per the rules, I opened one Reg Saver. Interestingly though , posters on the Savings Board have opened at least three of these accounts at the same time.
I'm not sure of my crime apart from being a bit flippant and tongue in cheek.
Thank you ses6jwg for an informative post.0 -
Yes it was a little harsh, sorry - I do have depths of bile I let lose on occasions, it was also a little tongue in cheek (not sure whose tongue). I just think you're setting yourself up for a bit of a fall but worse encouraging others to do the same. I didn't think you identified the obviously bad advice you were being given.
Edit: You do have a big Thanks button to use for ses6jwg.Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.0 -

But you can swap from A&L to another bank and then to Santander and be ellgible for the £100, as far as I can see. The T&C stipulate that you need to not have held an A&L current account for over 3 months so the offer could be withdrawn by then.0 -
Do you have to put the £1000 into your account each month in one go or
can you put £500 one week and £500 the next week in the same calender month ?0 -

iv just sighnd up as its been just over 3 months from when I had the last account. went through topcashback so *should* get another £50.50 on top of the £100. Im just transfering one credit card DD and thats it. Will then just use the account as a savings account and fund it with 1k a month then withdraw.
People moan about santander but I only use it as a minor account with 1 DD activated on it it should be fine.
Ill be keeping a close eye on the switch but even if i have to make a couple of phonecalls its still worth it for 5% and £150 IMO.0
