    If the property was returned with less than 500 litres I can see the LA would have a case to sue the OP for the shortfall but I can't see why the LA should be forced to buy 800 extra litres of oil because the OP bought too much.

    The only practical solution is offering it to the LA at a discounted price to see if they'll bite or else sell the excess to a third-party.
