Well , week off work over and I had a rotten cold , bad throat , cough and I didn't sleep for 3 nights . Glad to be back at work !!!
Rang up my renewal for the car insurance and although they wouldn't lower the premium I renewed because the last time I switched companies it took an age until my cover was confirmed because they wanted proof of no claims years and previous certificate which I didn't want again in case anything happened to the car . For less than a fiver I got instant peace of mind and no stamps to buy and letters to post .
Rang up the CCCS and reviewed my budget which does leave me with £300 a month to pay off my debt so now my debt free day is down to 4.8 years
I've also got some extra hours back at work so for the next six months I should earn a few extra quid to help cover any emergencies .
Now just counting down the months / weeks / days until November 2012 when my fixed rate mortgage deal finishes and I can go on the lowest repayment available until my debt is cleared and then save up until we can sell the property and I can get a mortgage and we can move and dare I say it have a holiday or 2 , a night out or 2 , a weekend away or 2 , or even some clothes .

Hope you're feeling better now you're back at work Andy.

Looks like you have a workable plan and will hopefully get rid of the debt sooner than the 4.8 years. I can't see the government ramping up the interest rate any time soon, so maybe 0.5% increase in July and i would hope you could get a tracker mortgage for about 3.5% near the end of 2012. They won't be increasing the rate by much and when they do they will probably wait a while to see what the fallout of the rise will be. Hopefully you will still be able to take advantage of this.

Don't forget to give yourself a few breaks inbetween though. Focussing purely on the debt and not focussing on yourself too can be unhealthy. Give yourself the occasional treat so that you have some things or targets to look forward to. Well done on getting this far.

Thanks a lot for the reply . I know what you mean about having a treat but I feel guilty if any money is used on anything else but the debt . I am really focused on clearing it at the moment and when I do then I will have a little treat as a well done because I think there will be some time between clearing the debt and being able to get a mortgage . I will have the house on the market and take it then .
Well a boring month this month , nothing to record , just work and payments made . End the month with a little surplus towards the car payments in October and am able to see my first £300 payment and the difference it makes . Feeling great about everything now and am focussing on the end of 2012 to hit the next stage of my plan .
With regards to my health I am thinking about getting a bike so that I have something else to do at 5am instead of browsing the internet . I am looking into the cycle 2 work scheme whereby I hire the bike from my employer and pay it back on my top line wage thereby paying a bit less tax but also not paying the full price for the bike . This is my project for the month .

I have got my employer to sign up for the cycle2work scheme . They are waiting for the paperwork to come through and then I can start ordering my bike and accessories .
I have also been out looking at areas where we might move to . The houses we like and in areas we want to live in would be at the top of our mortgage borrowing level and use up all the equity in our current property plus we would be living as we do now ie just surviving and not living which we do not want to do . So we have decided to move to a cheaper house that is livable which ticks the boxes of what we want , then we can do it up to how we want and also have holidays , weekend breaks etc .
I have rung my mortgage provider today to talk to them about how this happens and basically we carrying paying the fixed rate for 18 months then 4 months later our first part of the mortgage finishes then we are going to apply for a mortgage in principle to see if we are accepted and if so put our property on the market .
    Happy days ahead hopefully .

Cycle 2 work scheme now a dead idea . The head honcho has got involved and wants to run it a different way . I had gone and got a quote for a bike and accessories but under my companies way of doing this I would be paying back £80 a month which is way too much . Will have to wait 5 years until the debts are paid and treat myself then .
Another month gone , bit of overtime so a bit of money for car pool .

Car service cost £210 . 2 new brake discs and fully serviced . The joys of car owning eh , now it is time to look at the insurance , tax and mot in October . Tax and mot ok but insurance bothers me as it constantly appears to be going up , hopefully £300 will cover it .
Now time to focus on the waistline !!!!!!!

nice one on reaching the 2000 milestone on the car. Insurance seems to be really taking a hike this year, so don't forget to check out the cash back sites to see if you can get money back chev
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Horrible time at the moment and not felt like posting anything . To start with eldest has moved back home and brought his hard luck stories with him . Constantly asking to borrow money and never offering to pay any back , not contributing to the household chores or finances , the usual thing they do when they treat you like dirt . The twins should have started college but are refusing to go . The fallout of this is mainly that tax credits are stopped as is child benefit plus presciptions , glasses etc need to be paid for . They also will eat more being at home all day . It is one big struggle at the moment . I need to get car taxed , mot and insured . Don't know how much I have saved up to pay for this as I daren't look . Hopefully I can sort it out but the whole atmosphere is ugly at the moment ad I feel the months ahead could be a real struggle .
Thought of all options this month about selling the house and renting to get out of the situation we are in but looking long term that wouldnot be the answer so as awkward as it is for the coming months I am staying put and grinding out day to day . Will start looking at car insurance and savings and see how much I have left for other bills and will post back info .
