Another month passes by with no drama . I looked into any ppi I may have and it looks like there is not any which is what I thought . The only loans I have had didnot have any and despite taking out at least 20 credit card and store cards I can't remember seeing anything on any statements and if there was I would have queried it at the time . I havenot asked for any old statements or got in touch with old providers as I believe it would cost me £10 a company which I don't think is worth it .
I have renewed my house insurance and paid up front for it which saves me £20 a month for the next year , and having not had any for the past year I have taken out breakdown cover for both our cars for the next 12 months , price has dictated who I have gone with , don't like the reviews but fingers crossed we don't ever need them and the vast majority of our trips are relatively short so we could always use public transport if needed . The cars are getting old and although I service them regularly they will eventually let us down but I just hope they keep their reliability up for the next 12 months .
All christmas shopping is done but to be honest we don't buy a lot these days , I have a rough idea of what food shopping I will be doing in the days before christmas for the perishable stuff , this will be my last diary entry before the big day so I wish everyone reading this diary a very merry christmas .0 -
Hi Andy, lurker here, I always read your updates. well done on paying the insurance monthly, and on the breakdown cover. Peace of mind there.
I think 2014 is the final year of your DF journey so I wanted to wish you and yours all the best. Hope it doesn't drag too much. This year we have been all "ooh this time next year we can do" this that and the other. Makes it seem more bearable, lol. Anyway, take care and I look forward to reading your reports on the final countdown. This time next year....you'll be nearly there. :TMFIT -T5 #420 -

Thank you for your kind words . Although at various times on my journey I have been frustrated with planning for the future I now have a clear aim to put every spare pound at the debt to clear it as early as possible . I am seeing every payday as a stepping stone and see all the annual events I enjoy as markers to tick off in 2014 . I am currently putting in my annual leave for next year and early 2015 which will include a week in early 2015 when hopefully we will get to go to York for 1 night as our reward for the 5 years of struggling but acknowledging it had to be done and we can begin the rest of our lives .0 -
Happy new year everyone . Would love to wish you all a prosperous new year but I am not sure this is the case .:D
Got through the festive season spending more than a normal month but I suppose not as much as I could so very happy with the position I am in currently .
Two weeks left at work until I have a week off and during this week off I will be clearing the smallest debt I have and using this money to increase payments to the others . My next week off after then is March and my aim is to do the same then . I am planning my weeks off to coincide with having money to pay off a creditor so it feels like each week off is a tick off my debt free mission . At the moment I owe £6500 which is a third of what I started my dmp with . Hopefully by November it will be around a thousand pounds and this is when I will get a new deal on my mortgage and I will hopefully be able to look at a deal for a future of savings :j0 -
All sounding great

Start back to work today and having had my first weeks holiday of the year I achieved my aim of paying off the smallest creditor :j
My debt is now just over £6000 with my next target March and my next week off and hopefully I will have enough saved to pay off another creditor , it will also be review time for my dmp which hopefully will be my last review .
Did very little on my week off , went for a game of bowling , early in the day when it was unlimited games for just over the price of 2 games , we played 6 !! Apart from that it was a quiet relaxing week with lots of thoughts to this time next year when we could maybe go away even if just for a night
Time to switch onto work mode and get my head down for the next 6 weeks and hopefully by then winter will be leaving us , hopefully with little or no sightings of that dreaded white stuff .0 -
Fantastic news on paying off the smallest creditor :j

Hi Andy
I've just read through from the beginning, and wanted to say well done for getting rid of so much of the debt. I've subscribed, and can't wait to cheer when you finally post that you're debt free!
Just a couple of questions, if that's ok. When you first posted, your wife had lost her part time job. Is she working now, or looking for work? That would really help your debt free date.
Your twins, are they still in college, or working?
Best of luck
SatchmoWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
