Another pay day reached and another month ticked off . Had my week off and spent it doing all those jobs I put off when I have a day off due to them being time consuming . So , fixed shed roof , put up 4 curtain poles , tidied garden up etc . Bought myself a few tools so I can keep on top of all those odd jobs in future .
For the umpteenth time we have discussed plans for the future . We have now decided we want to move to a smaller , cheaper house once we are allowed a mortgage . I think this means I have to wait until my defaults drop off my credit file which is 4 years although Barclaycard havenot defaulted me but have marked my file as an arrangement to pay which on reading this forum will continue until 6 years after I pay the bill off . If this is correct then I need to pay this account off asap , it will also save me interest as at the moment this is the only account adding interest on each month . With this in mind my immediate plan is to save up enough money to pay them off and get my credit report for them satisfied . If I can do this in the next 3 months this gives us 6 years to plan what to do about moving . I think we should go down the holiday route after completing the dmp whilst waiting for my credit file to repair itself but where to go ? Any suggestions anyone ?
Been working a few extra shifts this month so should have some extra pounds to save towards paying Barclaycard off which I hope can be done in September after I pay all the annual car bills if there is enough left over . That is my short term target .

Opened a Co-op Cashminder account so I now have access to a debit card . I have set up a standing order into this account beginning next month to make it easier for me to pay the car tax and insurance because prior to this I have had to withdraw cash from my building society account and pay it in to wifes bank account and wait for it to clear before I could spend it . I also intend to use this to pay off my creditors one by one starting with Barclaycard .
We have a solid fuel fire , it is brilliant , but last year I had the annual chimney sweep in and he told me there is a problem with the chimney and it needs lining . I researched this and it costs about £1000 which I obviously can't afford . Well last week we burnt some paperwork , something we always do , and instead of it going up the chimney it came back out of the vents and in the room . Anyway I phoned sweep up and he came last week and swept chimney , it obviously needs lining but I told him about the plan to move and his advice to me is to remove the throat plate monthly and keep removing the debris from it until the chimney is so bad we have to stop using it and then remove the stove , cap the chimney with plasterboard and fit an electric fire which we can recover the cost of by selling the stove . He also recommended getting him to sweep the chimney twice a year instead of once and he would give me a discount for doing so . Result , instead of looking at a bill for £1000 it is now less than a hundred a year and a cost of replacing that pays for itself and the result of when we move we don't have any worries about the chimney .

A really quiet month it has been , enjoying the weather working and no problems with finances . We have decided that before selling the house we will replace the solid fuel stove with an electric stove , this will be done once the dmp is finished . hopefully I am two months away from paying off Barclaycard and then can challenge their marking my credit file as AP instead of just defaulting me 3 years ago . I don't know whether paying them off will affect my other creditors in any way other than them receiving more money each month but will find that out in October . I am now putting money aside for the car expenses in September and hopefully there will be enough left over to pay my first creditor off and not have any interest on my debt , I could then work out my debt free date and begin my final countdown to financial freedom , can not wait !!!!

Thanks Beanilou , but unfortunately for the past 3 years we have had no life and can't wait for the end of 2014 when we will finally have one and can start living . Trouble is we are that used to living like we do now that we have no real desire to do much other than a few days out and have holidays which we have never done , we may need advice on how to have a life !!!

Another month passes by , the weather has been glorious , I have been a bit short of work but I can still pay my essentials . I have a week off work next week and will begin by paying off Barclaycard and getting rid of them . Car needs an mot tomorrow , fingers crossed for that . Lots of jobs to do around the house and garden for the remainder of the week . Washing machine needs fixing but I pay a monthly fee to cover repairs and labour for that , dishwasher not working so marigolds for that , fridge not working so buying non perishable food . Trying to survive the rest of the year and next before replacing these items . Might look into any ppi I may be entitled to but feel sure I wouldnot have signed up for it but worth a few hours of my time and a few stamps .
