Will I save money ?

I get my water from Anglian water I was paying £40.74 per month but I've now requested a meter, will I save Money ?

I've tried a few times to get my bill reduced but they told me that its done on rateable value, so I decided to see if a meter is cheaper, if its not can I change back ?

You normally get a year in which to make up your mind, so if you're not happy within that time frame you can change back. After 12 months and you're stuck with it.

I'm with Anglian Water too and I went onto a water meter about 4 years ago. My bills have halved since then but you have to be careful with the water you use.

Nobody can tell you if you will save money as the tariffs vary greatly.

It depends on which area of the country you live, how much water you use, type of house, surface water drainage etc.

However not many houses will pay much more than £400 pa on a meter so the chances are you will save.

You have 12 months to decide if you want to pay via the meter it costs nothing to install so you cant loose , if you decide to go back to how you were paying before the meter will stay in situ and still get read every 6 months and if you sell your property the new buyers will automatically go on the meter

If you use 75cubes or under you can go onto the "So Lo" tarriff and save even more

Here is my experience with Thames water.
Family of 4 we were paying £60 a month on rates.

We decided to get a water meter fitted to see how it went
given we could always change back to rates within the year. We have not changed our water usage habits to ensure we see our "real" usage on the bills.

Anyway, we just got our first bill and Thames have decided to reduce our monthly bill to £10 a month. I had to read it three times just to be sure..and i haven't even asked for the soakaway discount yet ;)
