Hello
I currently have a loan with HSBC which pays off in one year. I have had the PPI on it since the start which a total cost for the entire loan is over £3000!!! I did go into the HSBC Branch and was told that i CANNOT cancel the PPI on the loan! I was outraged! so i wrote to HSBC explaining that firstly, i was told when i took out the loan i could cancel when ever i wanted, also i get paid sick leave with my job. And to top it off, they never asked if i had any medical problems! So i have written to HSBC with the usual letter of wanting to cancel and get my PPI back! No luck! So what company is best to claim with??? I want one where you dont get charged an arm and leg if it was successful. Can any one suggest a popular one?? Many thanks. Jon :j

I don't expect you'll find any that don't charge an arm and leg!
what exactlymwas the response to your letter?0 -
hello, it was more or less saying that they could not cancel my PPI insurance on the loan, and hows its the same with all loans at HSBC. They were very short and sweet to be honest. And not at all helpful. I did see a PPI recovery company on Day Break on ITV and they take 25% of the claim if successful. Jon0

Hi Jon
I would not bother using a claims company, lots on here have had no end of hassle.
I would keep on at them, if you did not receive a final decision, then write back until you do, they should enclose details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) with a leaflet on how to make a complaint to them.
You could also point out that you are aware that the FSA are punishing banks/companies for not investigating complaints properly and for rejecting genuine complaints, so if you believe this is one of yours and they have overlooked then tell them just that, and give them any other further information you can think of related to your reclaim for them to reconsider.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Claims companies are less successful at complaints that individuals. So, what makes you think they will do better than you?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Hi,
I was approached by a claims organisation who said that I could have grounds to claim quite a lot back (for one consolidation loan, two car loans and credit cards over the last 10 years). However I found out that they would charge me 39% of whatever I managed to claim so I cancelled them.
I would still like to try and claim whatever is relevant back but I have no clue how to go about doing it. I no longer have the records for the general loan as it was about 7/8 years ago, and I may only have partial records for the credit cards. The car loans are ongoing so they're easier.
Can I just write to the companies and put the onus on them to investigate what finance arrangements I had with them or do I need to do more than that? Any help greatly appreciated!0 -

The ppi will still be on the loan,as you will only recieve a small refund on cancelling.
Do as Di says.If you cancel the ppi on this loan, the loan will be reset without ppi, this will mean that you may have a higher apr and/or term

If you think you may have been mis sold this ppi then put a claim in for mis sell,if you win the ppi is taken off off the loan you get ppi paid to date back and your monthly payment goes down by the monthly ppi amount.
