Pontins Camber Sands Featured On BBC Watchdog Tonight. Advise Please!

Hi everyone,
I've got a week booked at Pontins Camber Sands at the end of October and I'm a tad concerned that it was featured on Watchdog tonight.
I know it's a cheap holiday but I've got a young baby and am very concerned by what I saw on the programme tonight.
I was really looking forward to the break away (we're going with another family - also who have a young child) but now I'm really concerned about what I might or might not find.
I know that the Watchdog programme only highlights one or two people's problems but what do we do if when we get there, our accommodation isn't clean and fit for purpose?
Do we have any kind of recourse?
Sarah

They are only going to show the bad bits though as a TV show aren't they? I mean plenty of people go and have a lovely time. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

I always go to camber sands pontins, every year for a short break, for the last six years with my kids , It may need a bit of a facelift, but we always have a good time & go back again & again... Have been trying to find the story on tonights watchdog, as I missed it, but cant seem to find it anwhere.... Everybody has their own opinions, some like, some dont, but we love it & my kids look forward to it each year as do I0

We went years ago to Pontins Camber sands and found it Ok, however we did not book the cheaper accomodation, so not sure what that is like. We used it as a base for days out in the surrounding area and using the beach which is across the road from the resort.0 -
We had a 3 night break in camber sands in February but we only stayed 1 night. We were in club accommodation but for some bazaar reason Pontins do not supply a proper bed for the adults to sleep on,we only had a small sofa bed in a tiny bedroom and that was the only seating in the apartment.
We complained straight away but we were told there's nothing they can do.
The entertainment was boring and noisy, only suited to heavy drinking chavs who are happy to let their children run riot while they get steaming drunk -one way of getting some sleep I suppose.
I feel Pontins are cheating honest people, It's more like a prison than a holiday.
Like I said, we could only stick the one night, we checked into Premier inn for the other two and it was a million times better.0 -

well, thankyou for that character assassination..... I actually quite enjoyed the entertainment when i went, it was well structured and varied across the evening getting more "grown up" as the evening went on, i certainly would not class myself, or any of the people i have become friends with during my stays at pontins CHAVS. My children certainly do run riot and enjoy themselves, as they are not affecting anyone except the miseries who live to moan about things i don't see the issue.
I agree that there are issues at Camber, but we are well aware of the failings, we take cleaning stuff and have a bit of a clean when we arrive (I know we shouldn't need to) On the occasion that our chalet was totally unacceptable i complained and the cleaning team came immediatley to put it right (again, i know this shouldn't happen, but as a realist nothing is perfect.)
it doesn't matter where you go - there are chavs, as you call them, in every type of holiday accomodation complex. Ignore them, they tend to leave you alone.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

It does amaze me how stoical the Brits can be.
They are quite happy to pay upwards of £300 and more for a week in some windswept, filthy, damp ,rotten "budget" chalet in Camber sands and make allowances by bringing their own cleaning stuff!
Now ive never been to one of these places but i know they can provide good, value bucket and spade holidays for hard pressed families.
Thats great but please Pontins and similar..it just isnt acceptable to put people in dumps like that.
If it cant be done properly for the price, bulldoze the place and redevelop.
Dont rely on stoical Brits suffering/shivering in silence.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
out of a group of 14 we had no complaints about camber sands we were in the cheaper apartment, we loved the whole hoilday having 10 children all diffenent ages with us not one complained, they got to try all the actives with afordable prices which they all really enjoyed the staff were lovely and the kids felt they where all speical in getting to know the blue coats which was lovely as its a small camp you feel it was more personal makes all the difference, recently went to butlins same group of people and out of the two camps we all agreed we enjoyed pontins more.everyone is wonderfull well all most :A0

That's Park Resorts btw, not Pontins. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
My OH went there a few years ago for a music festival type thing, and had no complaints at all.0
