I was just about to start a post having returned from my hairdressers, and you girls must have read my mind!

My haidresser has just done my hair with a Babyliss Wand and I love it:j. It's got that really effortless beach curl look, which I have never achieved with GHDs or rollers!

I now can't decide whether to go for a Babyliss one (large one cos I have long hair), or a Yogi one, which seems to be amazing, but is nearly twice the price:mad:

Has anyone tried the Yogi Wand?
I have long hair & the babyliss is fine.
I don't curl my hair when is freshly washed I usually wash it the night before & curl it the next day. I spray my hair with a heat protector spray, curl it with the wand (be careful to curl the ends or they can stick out straight) then don't touch it for as long as poss after I've curled it, at the last minute I comb it through roughly with my fingers. I'd go for the babyliss esp if it's moneysaving;)

do you do the rags yourself? How long does it take to put them in??

Yeah I do them myself, it takes me about twenty minutes to do it neatly. I do it when my hair is sopping wet so it's the drying that takes ages! It might be possible to speed it up with a hairdryer but I haven't tried it. I just tie the rags as comfortably as I can, stick a hair net over them and sleep with them in.

I too have been looking into curling wands for looser curl through my hair, I was initially looking into either the herstyler baby curls or jose eber.

Does anyone know if the babyliss curling wand is better than the herstyler or jose eber ? and does anyone know how many mm the babyliss wand is?

    thanks

On the blurb on amazon it says its 25-13mm. by the way the price is now just £16.63 (I don't have shares in them I promise, just a bit enthusiastic at finally finding something that curls my hair:grin:)

I haven't got both, I have the babylis and its good enough that I don't want to get another, it does the job perfectly fine and I cannot see really how spending 10 times more would make it any better- short of coming with an additional pair of hands to do my hair for me!

The claim on the Hersyler I think is that its les damaging for the hair as its 100% ceramic rather then coated ceramic but I have no idea how true this is- I mean surely your safe with either as long as you don't go around man-handling the cheaper version and causing obvious scratches!
My mum has GHDs (coated ceramic) she has had them near enough 10 years, taken them on holiday...taken them everywhere- she never had a case for them. She only updated them recently (for the MK4 version) I now have the old version she used to have- not a scratch on the plates I can see anyway.

After reading this thread, I went out and bought a remington curling wand yesterday. I've been thinking about it for a while now but all those glowing reviews pursueded me to take the plunge.

I tried it out yesterday and I have to say, I am SO impressed. I have very long, thick hair which tends to look like a huge, scraggy mess after I blow dry it. If I wear it down, I always have to straighten it so I've been looking for something else to to do with it which doesn't take hours. My hair has a few natural kinks but certainly nothing you could call a curl.

I sprayed some heat protection spray on my hair and a quick all over blast of hairspray, then sectioned it off and started curling it with the wand. I held the hair around the wand for about 10 seconds each time and this resulted in quite tight, spiral curls. After I finished, I didn't put any more hairspray on or anything as I wanted them to drop slightly and give a more natural look.

A couple of hours later, they had dropped slightly but still looked fab! :jThe curls lasted all night and I woke up this morning to find they were still there!! They're a lot looser now but it's still definitely curly.

I have never found tongs or any kind of device before which kept my hair curly for so long. I even posted a similar post to this one a few months ago asking how to get curls to stay in. I'm so glad I bought the curling wand, it's going to give me a lot more flexibility with my hair and I'm looking forward to experimenting with larger sections of hair to create loose waves. For anyone who has hair which misbehaves and loses it's curl almost immediately, I would recommend the remington curling wand.

I have mid-length fine hair and recommend the Babyliss Curl Press:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/BaByliss-3030053323303-2330CU-Curl-Press/dp/B0002Q9FYY

I'm a bit rubbish normally but manage fine with these and the curls last a few days. Only criticism is it doesn't have an on/temperature light.

Me too. I use OLY A FEW FOR A GENTLE WAVE, AD LOADS FOR TIGHT CURLS. ooops shouty.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.
