hair curls help

Options
i was wondering what is the best way to get loose waves in my hair.
i have long fine hair and bought some heated rollers and it turned out badly as the curls we're barley there.
i have seen on youtube people using their straighteners to curl the hair and ive tried this and again they was barely there .... so ive come to the conclusion i probably need to buy a heated curling wand or something similar...can anyone recommend a good one??
always send a smile as it costs nothing..

I have long fine hair and my hair really doesn't hold a curl.

I've tried to do it with my GHD's but I can only get it to work for one or 2 curls then I loose the nack, can do it on other people though...

I've tried heated rollers which worked quite well as long as I let them go totally cold and used some sort of spray when I put them in.

I've got REALLY hot curling tongs with 3 sized barrels and they are crap - curl looks great but drops out really quickly. might be ok if I pinned up the curls and let them cool in place with some spray?

And a hot wand from babylis (the pink one) this is the best thing I have found - but you have to hold your hair in place on the wand for at least a count of 8 to 10 and do it in quite small sections.

this is the one I've got http://www.amazon.co.uk/Babyliss-Pink-Conical-wand-25-13mm/dp/B001POJF60 I use it on the hottest setting

I'd love to have hair like my friend which just curls up lovely - but fine hair just doesn't seem to hold it very well.

I've got a babyliss curling wand it is brilliant, nothing else curled my hair, over the years I tried rollers tongs those bendy things , the 1st time is used it I got so many compliments I was delighted. It's only £18.45 on the amazon link which is less than I paid a year ago & I think a good price but you may even find it cheaper if you search.

I'd agree with this- I have the conical wand and it works well for me. Curls still drop but this is what happens with fine hair, however as long as I don't brush, touch or let anyone else mess with my hair the curls only partially drop and my hair still looks good at the end of the day.

If your hair is fine, this could be why the curls drop so early on.

If your finding they don't even form, try holding them for 30 seconds or more- I find 1 min works great but is soooo time consuming!

If your applying products to your hair beforehand, this can also mean curls drop early on. Try not to use anything too heavy- I have curling creams and all are too heavy for my hair, no curls stay for very long at all. I'd use a heat protection spray and leave it at that, maybe a hairspray afterwards but IMO its just alcohol and drys out your hair so unless your really benefitting from it (try it without, see how it goes) I'd stay well clear.

I have also tried rollers, didn't look half as good as the wand. I would put the curlers in the night before and take out in the morning, no brushing.
I didn't like how birds-nesty my hair looked when doing this and it appeared neither did complete strangers. (..only in London...!)

I'd love to have fine hair. Have always wanted to have an elegant french twist, but my hair will simply not cooperate.

don't use a curling creme if you don't have at least wavy hair, it's more for taming already wavy or curly locks...

Look for something that is heat activated, maybe a fixing spray it will help hold the curl.

I have fine hair and heat styling doesn't do much for me. Try rag curls, if you're anything like me the results should last much longer than heat styling. Do them on wet/damp hair and take them out when your hair is dry for best results :) I do it overnight.

I was just about to start a post having returned from my hairdressers, and you girls must have read my mind!

My haidresser has just done my hair with a Babyliss Wand and I love it:j. It's got that really effortless beach curl look, which I have never achieved with GHDs or rollers!

I now can't decide whether to go for a Babyliss one (large one cos I have long hair), or a Yogi one, which seems to be amazing, but is nearly twice the price:mad:

Has anyone tried the Yogi Wand?

another vote here for babylis...they are brilliant!!!! i have fine hair but i use the babylis curl and straighten tongs (as i am rubbish with tongs!!!)

i have found it is not a great idea to condition hair too much before....don't deep condition too beforehand as it makes the curl drop out more quickly...
