I'm bumping this thread as I'm considering buying one of these gadgets, but before doing so would like to get some up-to-date experiences from folks using them. Are they worthwhile, have you made noticeable savings, are they easy to use, are there any downsides?

Also are there any better gadgets on the market that will do the same or more?

    Thanks

I've had mine about a week now and I'm quite happy with it, I only have the three plugs which arrived in the box, and like a previous poster wish that it had the whole house transmitter included but it is something I am seriously considering buying as an addition (I got the device for free so £15 for the transmitter doesn't seem so bad).

Wireless range is pretty good, it will happily control and receive data for the plugs whether they are in the house, even at the end my extension. I have one connected to an 8 gang extension, to control all of the devices and after a week of use the plug is ever so slightly warm to the touch but that is probably the heat caused by the light on the unit.

The device itself is made by a company called Current Cost which also make an item called "The Bridge" allowing you to transmit the energy use reading over the network to a computer for further analysis, I am unclear whether or not this will work with the EcoManager (no reply from the company so far) although there appears to be socket on the back for it. (call me sad, but this appeals to my inner geek!)

One minor gripe is there is no ability to wall mount it, I had to fashion a bracket by removing the stand and replacing it with wood. I now have it next to Burglar Alarm (my last port of call before leaving the house or going to bed) allowing me to turn the sockets off as I set the alarm.
