I must say I'm not much better off for working either (about £18 per week) but I work from home so that I can be with the children so I'm willing to sacrifice money for that.

Hi Loopy, fingers crossed for the job, you need to get yourself on the phone to a Lone Parent Adviser at the jobcentre and get an appt pretty smartish, they'll be keen to see you if you tell them about the job as it helps them towards their targets, they can do an in work benefit calculation for you, they can even do one for when your daughters Child benefit ends, the information they give you is legally binding I think so its as good as you're going to get.

Also even without the disability link everyone gets 13 weeks to try out a job, it applies if a job ends through either yours or the employers job and I think you have to have been there a minimum of six weeks, you could ask about this at the same time.

    Good luck!

    Sam

    Hi Loops,

Have been following your thread with interest. Glad the interview went well - been wondering how you got on...

Really admire you for trying to improve your situation. Its so easy when you're not feeling well to just let go.

I have recently been off work through ill health and surgery and am lucky to have understanding employers. I hope your prospective employers have a good sick pay policy.Worth finding out...
    Good luck

    Aliyah x

Well done Loopy and good luck for the future.
You should qualify for Working Tax Credit if working over 16 hours?
If you decide to stay on income support, you will need med certs and an Incapacity claim from the date your youngest child is 16.
The Personal Advisors at the jobcentres can take you through in work calculations.

Jobcentres Advisors advice or info is not legally binding, unfortunately....everyone makes mistakes and the housing offices don't listen to the advisors so don't do as they say.....
Even for staff, Personal Advisors have the computer systems to ADVISE, its not set in stone.
