  • The places that sell Pandora near to me (including Selfridges) are high end jewellers. I'm sure you can't just go down the local wholesalers and buy them but would need to become an official stockist.

the 'new'pandoras that you buy off ebay are copper plaited with silver and stamped 925. and all the beads are fakes. Especially the ones from China.
  • The link on how to spot a fake Pandora charm is very interesting. The ones listed on eBay that we've been talking about have all ended - I wonder if someone has reported her! On one of the listings, all ten were sold. If they're fake, she's making quite a packet.

^ I feel sorry for the people that have bought the apparent fakes in good faith that they are genuine.

The whole story doesn't add up in the first place.

Her dad buying craft beads wholesale could get mixed up with jewellery charm beads. Surely there will have been a massive difference in price that would be obvious to anybody if the beads were genuine.

Also as previously said, a wholesaler would not sell Pandora beads, unless they were a jewellery wholesaler, not a craft wholesaler.

Everything points to fake for me, the seller has made a massive profit for the beads she has sold. There are plenty of other listings selling the same "fakes" for less than £5 per bead, if you buy in bulk the price comes down more. This seller has sold for £10 - £40 as far as I can see?!

I know someone that is buying and selling the Pandora STYLE beads, she is selling that at 50p each and making a profit on them.

The biggest problem with the fakes, is that you don't know where they have some from, and so have no idea what the metal is, the EU has strict rules on nickel content in jewellery findings, and a lot of these do not meet those rules, so will more than likely cause a reaction for some people (it's the nickel that people react to, not silver/gold plate, its the nickel in the base metal)

Also, with regard to the glass, you don't know if its been annealed (heat treated and allowed to cool down really really slowly), annealing makes the glass stronger, if they haven't been properly annealed, then they are more prone to cracking and breaking.
  • I asked to pick them up, she replied with

Is it bad that I think the real (and fake) Pandora items are ugly and look cheap :o?

I think they are overpriced for what they are - I used to wear silver items like this when I was a teenager and they were a lot cheaper to buy (taking into account inflation).

I recently saw my daughter's dental nurse wearing one and it looked really nice. I think the pictures don't really do them justice.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:
