youve just admitted that you dont need dla for disability problems, just for the money!
and if you earnt that much money in the past, surely it would have been wise to make financial provision for yourself?

    4. I have explained what I mean by blockage on another thread. If you think that being told that you are ill then you end up believing you are ill. With my previous claim I felt it was holding me back. I believed that as long as I was in control I would get better. Being on DLA made me feel that I was 'written off'. Ask any seriously ill mental health patient how he or she feels, you will probably get the same answer!

I knew that I was ill before anyone told me I was ill - I didn't need telling, and I'm sure this is the case with many others. You have to learn to deal with your illness and no it's not easy. You can feel that you are "written off" whether you receive benefit or not.

So what you are saying is that the way to be successful in a DLA claim or even an ESA claim is to build up a medical history. If that is the case many people with less severe cases will get the benefit over those others just because they know how to play the system.
Certainly not, and nobody here has said such a thing. When you make a claim for DLA it is only to be expected and totally right that you should attend a medical or that they are able to have evidence of your illness, disability and your mobility and care needs!
Why am I now claiming DLA? Because I can't cope financially anymore as I can't work due to the illnesses.
That is not a reason to make a claim for DLA.

So if you are now making a claim are you saying that you will not allow them to contact your GP or any other health workers? You will not have a choice in the matter and rightly so.

Well, yes. You can't claim DLA without having some form of evidence from a GP / other professional that you have a disability which causes care or mobility needs. I have a medical history going back 3 years (ish) saying that I have a muscle weakness type problem. I could not just put on my forms without any medical input from my GP and expect to get DLA.

I never said that! I still have the illness, but with the added stresses of lack of income it is worse.
How the **** do you think you can get over killing someone with a handgun in self defence? It never goes away.
And yes I did make provision, what do you think I was living on between 1995 and now? Fresh air?
After 1998 I refused to claim anything apart from LRM which they wouldn't take off me, until October 2010 when the money ran out.

Receiving benefits (in my mind) only reinforced the fact that I was ill. Withot it, I was in control.

I was never offered a medical, they wrote to my GP who replied that he had no idea what I was on about. I have a whole wad of letters from the Mental Health Unit from 2004 until 2008 that keep on making appointments for me. I ceased to have anything to do with them in 2004.

There you go then! For those that choose not to seek medical help can't have DLA or any other benefit even though they may be a whole lot worse than those that do 'build up a medical history' for a much lesser illness who do.

When I claimed ESA in October 2009, I refused to put anything on the ESA50 relating to my mental illness because I didn't want them poking around with my head. I failed that test also.

I don't think you have any idea how many mentally seriously ill people there are walking around that do not seek medical help.

I think you'll find I was / am one of those people. If your illness was that severe, you'd have no choice but to get help.

If you don't attend appointments and do not see your GP how can they give the DLA information they need! You knew that they may contact your GP - you should have made an appointment to see your GP to inform him/her!

If you ceased to have anything to do with the Mental Health Unit in 2004 then they can't give any information about your present condition. They can't base your claim on 2004 medical reports!

Do me a favour, read the national press dated 9/12/94!!

On a public street in South East London, I was the only guy, amongst dozens of other passers by, that tried to stop an armed robbery taking place. In the struggle, I took the handgun off one of them and then I was shot in the leg and neck by another, instinct made me stop him from killing me, I shot him in the face!

Maybe you were one of the members of public that just kept out of the way!!
