Please help settle my mind as I am feeling quite sick.
I went to pick up my daughter after being at a school friends to play for the first time, her mum told me to park outside the flats and buzz in. It didnt even cross my mind that I couldnt park there/ saw no notice.
However out of habit I put out my daughters blue badge.
We came down to the car, literally 5 mins later and there was a PCN on my windscreen...
I told the mum the next day and she said I could borrow her permit ( yes, thanks for telling me) put my details on, photocopy it and send it to the company...
I have photocopied it, but after reading on here, not sure I should even be entering into anything with this company.
My husband wants me too as he does not want baliffs at our door and he wont believe that it will be ok, I am panicking, it is 7 days today since I received the notice.
What should I do?

If its a private parking firm then IGNORE.
For bailiffs to come round you need
1. to be taken to court
2. Be found guilty
3. Not keep to the payment plan the judge sets.
Then bailiffs can come round.
Likelhood of this is errrmmmm none.
If it is a council ticket then head over to pepioo and post there.
Please let us know who it is?
You can appeal to me and I will let you know
"Your appeal has been denied"
There is no appeals processI all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

It is a company called BGS Services Ltd , I am aorund the Kingston Upon Thames area.
Do I really jut ignore it? how long do I spend living in fear? Is it worth keeping the photocopy of the permit I have?
The main thing that scares me is someone at the door, I would be terrified...
Will this ever go away?0 -

Yes you can ignore it. Dont bother living in fear , take a look at the sticky on what to expect, a few so called debt collectors letters, maybe 6 months to a year before they might go away, depends on if they think they can get money from you.
Keeping photocopy, not really there is no appeals process.
If someone turns up at your door concerning this debt tell him to foxtrot oscar, if he doesnt then call the police and report him for trespass.(they dont turn up)I all have learnt is from others on many sites.

You have a greater chance of someone turning up with a cheque for the Euro millions that you dont even play that one of these idiots turning up at your door.I all have learnt is from others on many sites.

It's a mail scam. Powerless debt collectors don't make a living by trudging around, wasting petrol and visiting people who are probably not in for a measly £50 or £100.
Letters are designed to make you think they will and prey on the general ignorance and confusion about CCJs and bailiffs.
Ignore. They'll give up and go away.0 -

You need spend no time AT ALL living in fear. Please ask your husband to read all these replies, we are all telling you the same thing.
We speak from experience, I ignored a PPC ticket last year and they just sent 3 debt collector letters, that's all. Debt Collectors do not just turn up at your door (that would be harassment).
You are thinking of bailiffs, it's a common mistake. Debt Collectors are not bailiffs.
If your husband is still not sure about ignoring the letters, explain that they really are just like a series of phishing emails, think of them that way. If you got, say 5 emails over a few months telling you to send some money to collect your Nigerian Lottery winnings, would you reply? Would you pay? Would you even read the emails in any detail? Of course not, you would delete the emails without a second thought and snort with laughter about their pathetic extortion attempt. SAME AS THIS SCAM.
Need more corroboration than just MSE forum strangers? Watchdog on private parking tickets:

And a pictorial preview of the not-so-scary letters private parking co's (PPCs) send out in liaison with their pet 'debt collector':

And finally, how about seeing how common your thread is, did you know the entire board is full of people like you ignoring this scam? All these threads on this next link below are about private tickets (apart from the odd Council case) and every single person is ignoring a series of letters, which isn't too hard to do. It's just like deleting a series of phishing emails. Read some other threads here:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163
Have a read of threads, watch the Watchdog clip. You get that it's all a scam now I hope? Spread the word, make sure your family, your friends, and that flat-owner are NEVER taken in by such a con. No-one will call at your door, they CANNOT just send the boys round.
You only have to ignore some letters, that's all. It's quite funny when you know the score.:DPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
