    Hi ILG

Sounds like a plan - and much more time saving than making individual portions of food for everyone! you sound well prepared anyway, i think it'll be a great wee party!

i've had about as far from a frugal weekend as you can get! I was out after work on fri, and out all day yesterday - eek! hmmm £100 lighter and a bit annoyed with myself - but learnt a lesson. I had a good time but now i know that i would've had as good time just going to a pub for some food rather than a restaurant, and saved liked £60 extra - grrr. Oh well can only spend it once - im off to aldi now for a cheap shop to make up for it haha xx
    GOAL: To save £9,500 this year. [31/01/11: £1104.37/9,500 :D - 11.6%]

    WHY: Deposit, FTB.

    HOW: Micromanaged my spending - no more £1 here's £1 theres ...

I'm back!!!! soz ive been missing in action for so long.

Wow what a busy few weeks. DD was sick with an ear infetion and then we had the party 2sort, which went fab :j. She had a lovely time and was sooo spoilt by everyone. We however were very money saving and put most of her gift in her trust fund!!!!!

We've also had a change in our savings since last time I posted. We've had some money come our way and have therefore been able to put £2000 in to the savings. Which now means we have........

    £3290.11.

I must say tho its a rather odd feeling because we NEVER usualy have nice happy things like this happen 2us. usualy its bad news and we've had a fair few this year already (dont really want to go into it :o)

Hope your ok Keelni not heard from you in a long while x

Barrows let me know how the savings and house moves are going; again long time no speak (totaly my fault! :o)

night 4now guys, promise will post updates more often xx

If I'm honest Keelni part of me feels a bit of a fraud coz the money was totaly unexpected :o. Then I find my self thinking what the old me would have done; and then I realise I would av blown it all on crap we DONT need. But still like i said yest things like this NEVER happen to us, finding it all a bit odd :o.

Anyhow ive been trying 2think of was 2raise more cash also. Need 2look at what we've got 2sell on ebay and I'm going to also look @ selling our CD's, most are the iTunes library anyhow so dont really need 2keep the originals.

If you come up with some money saving/raising ideas let me know. need all the help I can get from now on inn.

    hi guys

Another little update managed to put another £80 into the xmas savings pot so that has £160 now (only another £640 2go!!! lol).

Not sure if any of you guys have taken advantage of the Tesco dtd deal, i bought some wine, pate and a few frozen bits nd bobs had the results through - £41.62 back on a shop that cost me £55.81. So have effectivley paid £14.19 for.....

    ..2 x mccain wedges
    2 x mccain chips
    1 x tuna chunks 4pack
4 x ardennes pate with bacon
4 x wolf blass yellow label cabernet

    :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Will use the voucher off our next shop (but will make sure I buy things that only work out the same price or cheaper than Asda, got a feeling they are clamping down). I know many people feel that I and others tacking advantage of the offer are doing wrong by Tesco; but honestly if i can save on my shopping and use that money to put in savings I'm NOT going to feel guilty. Times are hard and I'm just trying to do the best by my family and if that means sourcing out a good deal well that what I will do!! lol

Hope everyone else is doing ok

Well been to spen my dtd voucher last night and managed to exactly what I said everything bought was either the same price or lower :j. I honestly have enough tin food, pasta, rice ect to keep us going for MONTHS; all the things bought are things we use all the time and Tesco have now lowered the prices 2match and given me and extra £20.81 towards it all just for being so darn expensive on other things!!!!!!! :p
Did manage to get some Heinz snack pots which were £1.88 @T and £1 at asda over all spend was £7.52 and voucher back with dtd is £7.04..... lol. I am going to put the £27.85 I have NOT had to spend on getting the food towards savings.

Really chuffed with the above and just goes to show what a little effort can produce. However did get me thinking if Tesco are now the same price or cheaper on many everyday products perhaps its time to take advantage of the Asda price match ;)

Also been looking into discounts I can get through work and im actually able to buy a preloaded voucher for asda and topup whenever I want but with a 5% saving. Ok so 5% is not a huge amount but over the year it will soon add up and it seems rather simle to arrange and get going with. I can also order Iceland Vouchers at 7.5% recduction; dont buy a lot from iceland but we do tend to get a few of the party food bits - like chinese starters ect cheaper than a take away and handy for the night i cant be bothered cooking. so again another little saving.

Must say now im focused on the savings again i am addicted

Anyhow again hope you are all ok

    £27.85 added to savings now stands @ £3342.96 :j

Have been clearing out the house and now have an idea what we want to seel on ebay. Just need to get finger out and take the pics and list now.

Also been and had a look what our CDs are worth, not a great deal but everylittle helps; and like I said before all the songs are on the iTunes library now anyhow. I'm also sure I have more CDs in my mums house left behind from when I moved, also a fair few DVDs I think. Will have look next time im over and again add them to the list 2sell.

Have a few bits of broken gold rings, chains ect so am going 2take them in and see what I can get for them (they are currently sat doing nothing so will put 2good use).

So my job for the upcoming week is to sort out all the above and keep adding to the savings.

Also forgot to mention that ive used the Tesco DTD deal to get some wine ready for my brother and father in laws birthdays (not till june) but feel good that we've done this.

DD is teething again at the moment and has been like a bear with a sore head all weekend. Bless shes usualy such a happy little thing wish I could do something for her. Giving her the usual calpol, ibuprofen and herbal teether granuels, anyother suggestions what I can do 2help her would be greatfully recieved ;)

How u doing Keelni bet your 3 keeping you busy; did you get your car sorted under the warrante in the end hun??

Yes got the car sorted and didn't cost anything so happy with that. No improvement with the savings though we are doing well with the budget so should have a little left over at the end of the month. We are also decluttering the house and looking for things to sell at a bootsale hopefully weather permitting we are going to do two next weekend.
Poor dd teething is awful apart from what youre doing mine used to love the teething rings that you chill in the fridge.
I love your savings so far well done.
