The more the merrier hun; and like you say we can both spur each other along x
That sounds like a plan to me we both have the BIG reveal each Fri. So shall we declare the challenge officialy on :j.
Sorry should have explained that a bit better. No the xmas savings are separate to the £1550.11 hun. So I guess in total we have £2270.11. But as I know we will spend the xmas money on Car Insurance and funnily enough Xmas (lol) I dont add it to the £5000.
WOW mortgage free at 28!! my OH didnt even have his first mortgage till that age! :rotfl::rotfl:. Now that really is something to aspire to - but given that I only have 2.5 years till 28 I doubt very much I will manage that
I agree with the whole save first then OP; so if we both manage the £5000 challenge prehaps we could then help each other reach the mortgage free dream?
Well must dash have promised a full on sunday roast b4 x-factor 2night '£5000 by hook or by crook' challenge - £4168/£5000

Hi haven't posted for a while been busy busy bee.
Not much to report to be honest been trying to spend as little as possible most of the week. Managed to finish the week having only spent on food shop.
Had a lovely day on Monday with my mum, nephew and dd. We all went for a lovely picnic in a local country mannor grounds and then for a walk along a local beach. Was lovely to spend time with my mum and nephew hes growing soooooo quick and he says the funniest things now. Just goes to show that you dont have to spend the earth to have happy days that you can remember in years to come.
So it's reveal day and as of today we now have the grand total of
£1590.11
Not as much as I had hoped for but I guess were heading in the right direction and any bit saved is better than none.
No more added in the xmas fund this week
not enough money spare; but as we are on track with this we can kinda afford to concerntrate on the £5000 challange more.
Well enough of me for now speak soon peeps

:T Great stuff ILGPink, we have a very similar goals as I have about £1170 odd in the bank and looking to have £3500 saved up!
But as you mentioned there about Xmas, I don't think I'll be able to improve much on this until the end of January. The only good (relatively speaking) thing is that everyone else is on a similar boat.

Oh just a thought - have been thinking wouldn't it be nice to have a savings diary section like DFW & MFW. A place where we could all offer mutual support 2each other spuring(sp) each other on. Is that even a possibility?????'£5000 by hook or by crook' challenge - £4168/£5000

Morning all. Hope everyone is well. ILGPINK any news on the job front?
Payday last friday so I've put most of it into the savings the plan is that if the moneys not in the current account then I can't spend it so this weeks total is.
£955!!!0 -
Hi everyone sooooo sorry I have been AWOL for so long.
Been a mad few weeks started with the laptop getting a bloody virus. Then DD got really sick and was rushed into hospital; very scary at the time but is now near enough back to full health and happy little chick again :j.
Well the savings have been at a standstill since I last updated, Due to OH having to take unpaid leave when DD was sick .
Feel a bit deflated to be honest as we were on such a good roll and now we are just all over the place (finance wise). We have managed to not dip into the savings but really are struggling to keep heads above now so will be a very very frugal few months for us
.
Keelni that is an amazing amount that you've achieved so far a massive well done and hope you are still going strong in my absence! lol
Well ive kinda sorted the work issue for now anyhow. Once the union got involved they agreed to a drop in hours on an initial 3month agreement till they know what the new head count will need to be come March'11. It means I have to re-apply again at the start of March and may face the same battle again but given that we are facing cutbacks within the dept ect it's the best I can expect/get at this difficult time. I just pray to god when the time comes that I will be granted a permenant change in hours as I honestly don't want to miss out on her that much
. Anyhow have kinda decided to focus on making the most of the time I have left at home now and cross that bridge if and when I need to come March.
Getting very excited about the thought of xmas and her little face when the tree and dec's go up yay.......
Well as usual I have managed to post an essay so I am now going to head off to bed.
Wish me luck with the savings I'm gona need all the support I can get!!!!!!!'£5000 by hook or by crook' challenge - £4168/£5000

Welcome back ILGPink I was beginning to get worried about you.
Sorry to hear about your daughter being unwell and I'm glad she's getting better.
Good news on the job front even if it's only temporary hopefully it will be more permanent next year.
well I have been plodding along slowly in your absence and as of today my total is £1272 this however includes everything from all my savings accounts, my sharesave and the regular saver for next xmas.
We are also in a bit of a mess as have put loads on the credit card mainly christmas presents plus petrol and groceries and have lost track of how much oops so savings might drop a bit next month really hope not but things are a bit tight as I've had no overtime for the last 6 weeks.
Good luck and I hope your daughter continues to get better.0 -
Really hope your DD is fully recovered soon

I know what you're saying about feeling deflated abt your savings - this month has been a very slow month and next month won't be any better.
Don't stress over it though, it will get better. Sometimes things just seem to all happen at the same time and completely destroy any plans or good intensions you had
Best wishes,
MMx
PS I just spotted your post about having a "savers diary" section like DFW. I think it would be a great idea but tbh I don't think there's really much demand for it - I've come across a few savings diaries but nowhere near as many as the DFW or MFW ones.
But I vote in favour for one

Hi guys thanks for popping in!
Your savings are coming along nicely Keelni you are deffo doing the best out of the 2of us
. Sorry to hear about the no overtime tho; Know how much things like that can affect an ability to save and in many cases keep head above the dreaded waters! a big Thanks also for your concern about DD she is 100% back to her normal babbling self now
.
Hey MM nice to hear from you and thanks for your kind msg x How are the wedding plans coming along; have you set a date can't recall reading of one??
Well again not much saving going on sorry had a very busy weekend visiting OH releatives and turned out to be a bit expensive between one thing and another
.
We need to start keeping more of an eye on what we are spending aswel really; we have gone major off the boil with writing the small bits nd bobs down like we use 2. If im completely honest weve started to not realise AGAIN where the money is going and am rather ashamed that weve let it all slip again after all the hard work we had done to start with.
Anyhow with Dec being such an expensive month need to get a grab on the budget and spending asap so my plan tonight is to sit down and do the sums and see what we have left or NOT as the case may be.
Have a good week guys. Hopefully on Friday I will have some news of savings X-fingers nd toes! lol
