Very cross with Netflights!!

I can see the point of wanting a convertible and not getting one being disappointing, yes...but given the terms of the booking it's always possible that someone won't get exactly the car that they booked. If someone ends up with a car in a lower class then I can absolutely see that they are entitled to a partial refund...if someone gets a more expensive model then while it's disappointing, I can't see why there would be any refund due except like in your case if there was a lot of driving done and a much larger vehicle supplied so petrol costs were higher than they would have been.
Bear in mind that to some extent, car rental places will need the other customers renting a particular kind of car to do what they planned - if someone extends a few days or brings a car back late...the company can't just make another one on the spot.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I think most people have accepted that now;), It does help if you pick the car up at an airport location where there are more cars to choose from rather than a hotel rental desk where there isnt many.0 -
i accept that all rental places make it clear that cars offered are 'car or similar'.... So in terms of the Convert Mustang, then yeah a Sebring is similar.....
My point, and Kimmys is, on our Vouchers which is what is sent to you in the post, states 'STAR -STAR Ford Mustang Convertable'. Doesnt say similar...
So imagine you dont have internet access one day, so you telephone Netflights and book the car, saying your looking for a mustang convert, ideally with dollar, sales guy finds the deal and books it for u, u get the voucher in the post saying the above, your none the wiser.... as far as you know, you have entered in a contract with a UK broker for them to arrange that car to be available to you when you collect on the day of your voucher. As you say, if they run out of that car, or class (if advised), then you should be offered somthing better, etc etc...
We all accept we sometimes get a raw deal, but doesnt hurt to put up a fight!
Does anyone recall when i put up a thread asking for advice on how to get my money back for a booking i originally made for the Excalibur via Alpharooms? despite not going until June, i still managed to cancel the booking and get my money back although your supposed to lose your deposit..... all come down to wording

The convertible part is what's cool about it! Had a Sebring convertible once... far better than the Mustang IMHO.
Just rented off National at Orlando (first time with them). No "full size" available so was offered an upgrade to a mini-van. Ended up taking a compact (mazda3) as the misses was driving as she was more comfortable driving this.
As we only paid $96 for 4 1/2 days rental I don't think I'll push too hard for compensation from priceline
I am pleased it wasn't just me who was not overly impressed with the Mustang.
Regarding the Sebring - as I explained earlier, when I went to collect the Mustang - it was not available and I am certain it was a Sebring they offered me as an alternative, however, they did get me the Mustang from another depot.
I agree with your assessment of the Mustang - it just seemed sluggish and not very responsive. The convertible part is what's cool about it!
Totally agree - although we just don't get the weather here. My daughter has a convertible and she had the roof down for one day last year.
I had never driven a convertible and yes - it was worth the little extra to have a car with the roof down in nice weather - although as someone on here has wisely mentioned, watch out for the sunburn - particularly if one is follically challenged - ouch!0 -

We had this conversation with the rental girl as well, that we were willing to wait for it to be brought over from another hotel or the airport etc. She said there wasnt a Mustang in the entire city so where on earth had they all gone??! They had overbooked them of course, so the customers (ie us) that booked a convertible Mustang didnt get even 'similar', we got the equivelent of a small bus because thats all she had left. We had no choice whether to upgrade or downgrade, it was "This is it, or nothing".
We also had to drive round Vegas to their depot in order to refuel the car as they hadnt got round to doing that either. The Explorer was still dirty with the last customers rubbish as well, empty cereal packets and water bottles under the front seats. Not impressed............KimmyCustard :j0
