  • Be back later wi th proper post and comments but a quick question

It has been suggested I make a card for a male colleague who has just had "the snip". He is a bit of a joker and it was suggested by his mate who thinks it would be funny.

Where on earth would you start?
  • Hi everyone, I am a bit new to the card crafting side of things and was wondering, what items I should buy to get me going?

Have had lots of inspiration and ideas but have fallen at the first hurdle not knowing where to start lol.

    Any advice greatly appreciated :)

Flourgirl - Good news about your DS getting married again

Louby - Hope your neice is doing ok and her parents find somewhere to stay at a reasonable price!

Craftygranny - Hope your dil is feeling better now.

Georgie - Thats sounds an interesting card! Not sure where you start though. Maybe try and find something on the web with a funny comment

Savvy - It can become quite expensive if you are not careful. Start with card, images and backing papers (both of which you can get free on the web if you have a printer to print things out). You will also need a craft knife and cutting board and card blanks. Things you have around the house can be used to add to the card. Visit our blogs to get some inspiration (Click on our user names and click the homepage link). Feel free to ask any questions and we will try and help. Hope that helps to start with.

Anyway must get on with some work. Hugs to all. xx

    hi guys
Louby so sorry to hear about your niece
Georgie perhaps a picture of scissors on the card with 'ow!' on it would do lol
been in a rush making cards so mine are just getting more and more basic!
  • Morning ladies (and gents).

Flourgirl - how lovely, best get a new hat and I guess bag ;) Congratulations

    Louby
    - any news on your niece yet? xx

    Craftygranny
    - hope things are ok with your DIL

Choccy - another Bigshot fan here (mine takes lots of abuse - I put tin cans, keys, carnations amongst other things thru mine and it is wonder it hasn't broken!!)

    Soma - you're back :)

Savvybunny - welcome. Like Addams says it can become quite expensive. I'd personally suggest buying some card blanks, a guillotine (I never use a craft knife or cutting mat), a pair of fine detail scissors, pva glue and some sort of colouring medium. One of the cardmaking mags has a free Kate Knightly paperstack this month, so you could kill two birds with one stone there.

I can't remember what else I've read so sorry if I miss anyone. I think my mojo might be returning, so I'm going to bid you all a good day and go and craft :)

flourgirl - Congratulations!!! Happy hat shopping - just make sure you can get a Radley to match :)

Louby Any news on your niece? Great that the doctors diagnosed her as it's such a rare condition and they didn't miss it. How's your friend doing?

    Savvybunny Hello

WBR I'm being nosey - why do you put carnations through your Big Shot?

Liz I bet your brain is fried after your course - I think half the time you come out more confused than before you go in :)

Off for a wander round blogland to try to catch up (again:o)
