They used to have a fab forum also on there ( not as fab as this one i might add but that is where i started) But it got closed. I miss the for sale thread as i got some good bargains from crafters. I got my ultimate crafter's companion from there.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0 -
I too am following various people, some might call it stalking, but I prefer to think of it as affection.
My SW leader is a FB friend so she has been looking at the cards I've been making. She suggested I take some along for them to "look" at, so we've come to an agreement that if I sell any I will give a percentage of the sale to the charity of the year As I'm not very experienced at making cards yet, I'm at a bit of a loss at what to price them at. I was thinking of doing the little plainish ones at £1.00 - £1.50, if they are a bit bigger, or detailed, then £2.00 - £2.50, then the large square ones at about £3.50. Then, if anybody should want anything specific, and I feel I'm up to it, then I have a bit of leeway to charge a little bit more, without feeling that I'm overcharging.
My sister sells hers and I think the cheapest she sells for is £2.50 or thereabouts, and commissioned ones she charges up to £10, depending on what is required
Thanks to all those who suggested cellophane bag suppliers, most appreciated :beer:0 -
Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!RustyFlange wrote: »Oh and OH got me a ring .....
Now before you all start thinking and presuming, it wasn't that kind of ring as I aint that lucky... but it was a puzzle ring, which I absolutely love :j
Ooh puzzle ring sounds interesting! I got a ring from OH for Christmas too - not an engagement ring though it does look like one...
I also got lots of crafty things including a new printer, Digital Scrapbook Artist 2, Scorpal, Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities and some Alcohol Inks
Just uploaded the last of the cards I made for Christmas and can't wait to get playing with my new goodies now.
CT I can't believe you made 450 cards last year! I haven't made even a quarter of that in the two and a half years i've been crafting.I also wanted to say a massive "thank you" to my secret santa. I loved all of my gifts - whoever it was definately knew what sort of things I liked. Can I find out who it was now so that I can send them a thank you card (when I get round to making one)?
Glad you liked your present - I have to admit that I was too embarrassed to put who it was from, as I didn't have time to make a Christmas card for you before I sent it. I also messed up and brought some gorgeous pearl brads before noticing it was on your dislike list, which is why the can flower came about so if you want any more making then let me know as I have some brads to use up lolxx
The flowers are alot like this but i was thinking about maybe paper flowers as they are flatter, think i will speak to her tomorrow and see what she thinks. Thanks ladies!
I think i've seen something similar to these at a new shop in town - they had packs of 6 in pink or white for £1 like this: http://www.tricosources.com/shopping/occasions/flower-satin-flower-white.html Let me know if they'd be any good and I could always pick you some up!wanna-b-rich wrote: »Can I be cheeky and ask how people price their cards that thet sell? I keep getting requests for cards but have absolutely no idea how or what to charge - any advice would be hugely welcomed. TIA x
I've sold mine for anything from £2 to £10! I tend to base it on how much time, effort and materials has gone into making the card. Most of the time it's been the lower end but when I've said to just pay whatever they think it's worth as i'm struggling to choose a price I seem to get more...I've finally finished the tutorial for the newspaper style cards. I'm trying to work out a way to do a link to a word document on my blog, because it is quite picture heavy, but if anyone would like a couple pm me your email address and I'll send you a copy over the next few days. PONR has tested it for me so it works, but be warned that the instructions are for Microsoft Office Publisher 2007, so if you have an older copy they some of the instructions won't be correct for you, so you may have a bit of figuring out to do.
Ooh can I please have a copy of your tutorial?0 -

I'm now following you as well!!!!!
In my experience, most people don't want to spend more than £2 on a card as that is the maximum they would pay in a shop. My mum won't pay more than a £1 in a shop and I don't think she is alone!! My SIL took my cards to work and sold them and alot more of the cheaper ones sold even though they weren't the best ones!!! I think if you know you can get more then great but don't overprice as it might put people off and then you will lose their custom completely. If you are going to have to give a percentage to charity then to be honest you aren't going to make much profit at all. The profit margin on cards is not brilliant for the time and effort put into making them. The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -

Are you on the Dibb?
Not yet, but will be. Need all the help I can get. Couldn't believe how much virgin wanted for the flights, but have managed to get flights with Thomas Cook, and 8 nights at Saratoga Spar Resortt for £3,900 and that includes the 14 day disney passes for all of us. Apart from Disney really looking forward to trying to find a Joann's and Michaels. My OH has been told I want at least a day craft shopping:rotfl:. Just need to sort out where we are staying for the other nights, and hire a car, then we are done apart from spending money.
For those who want to go, you now need to pay for an ESTA, I did a lot of searching as I didn't want to pay a fee to another company, that were wanting £20+ for each application, but if you do it direct to the US website then, it is only $14.00. See here about the middle of the page [sorry can't access the direct website page at the moment]. I did it at the weekend and we were all approved instantly, but this doesn't guarantee that you get in the country, only that they accept you to travel.
Just checked my bank, and I was charge £9.36 per application, so just under £40 for all 4 instead of about £100 with a third party company. HTH2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
 How much  can i ask what time of year was you looking at for that price we are going to book ares this weekend but thats a lot of money. We should of gone to book it before Christmas but with work snow and other things we didnt get round to it
We haven't gone into great detail about it all yet. But that was what several companys had quoted us on the discover disney web-site. I must say this was all in. So you got flights, hotel on site, 14 day pass for all, transfers or car hire and all meals.
I am sure we can get it cheaper and we don't have to stay on site which would make it cheaper but think hubby has been put off now.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0 -

Oooh another ring :j Fab! ... OH did his best bless him to get the right size but it was slightly too small, so we went back (OH knows the family jewellers so doesn't pay full price for anything) and rather than just gold, I got a 3 gold ring which is being made up specially :j ... they look a bit like this and basically it is several rings in one but they all sit neatly together to look like this (I can't put them back together) Should I add that nearly all the ladies in OH's family have one of these, his real mam, his step mam and a couple of others so I feel very special
CT - Could I please have a copy of your tutorial aswell :j
Giggle - You have pm
Rainmac - Well done on your 2 x top 3
Can't remember what else I have readsorry ladies! I have my friend coming round this evening to discuss me being a carer for her son whilst she is at work, her son starts nursery on the 8th so it would only be for an hour after school but I would need to pick him up aswell :j bit of pocket money for me

We are desperate to go to disneyland, but our trip would have to be about 3 weeks long as we would head to canada aswell! we have the money to pay for it but just haven't found something suitable as yet, think OH needs a few more trips offshore!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0
