Bad credit due to mobile phone
Comments

OP - if the facts are as you state, then the consequences of the dispute over a mobile phone contract are disproportionate (specifically, precluding you from employment opportunities).
I'd suggest that you do anything in your power to have the credit report amended/rectified. Judging by your comments, why not approach the phone company concerned, in the first instance...and take it from there.
Good luck.0 -
Thank you everyone for your comments. Hi Stephen77 Im a 42 year old woman who has worked all her life, so i know its the phone company. And thank you for your comments. I am going to go back to the shop in Leeds where i originally placed the complaint. Not that they were any help to begin with and get my copy of the letter sent off to 3 again. Again thank you, you have kind of given me a kick into going more forward with this......0

I'm not sure if going to the shop will help.
You need to put everything in writing, and send it recorded or even special delivery, so you can prove they received it, and perhaps even write to headquarters who will no doubt be the ones who marked it as defaulted! List ALL the details, including the attempt to fix the phone, and the admission of the sales guy saying the phone was cr*p and tough sh*t etc... tell them that on this basis you gave 1 month written notice to cancel your contract as they couldn't provide you with a working phone, so therefore broke their side of the contract, and also say that no paperwork was ever received regarding a debt, and no default should have been placed on your credit rating given the account was in dispute.
I'd also go on to say that their mistake has currently cost you a very well paid job, and you will be holding them responsible for this, and expect their utmost attention sorting this matter out, otherwise you will be pursuing them for compensation due to their negligence.
Probably best to visit CAB too and get someone to read through the letter before sending.
Give the company 14 days from receipt of the letter to respond, otherwise you will be taking further action against them.
I really hate phone companies who think it's OK to break their side of the deal!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
