    Hi davies2002

Welcome to MSE & the credit card board!

Unfortunately, this article is not available at present.

If you do not have Egg Money, you will need a credit card issued by Royal Bank of Scotland or MBNA, in addition to the low life of balance card.

    RBS? You sure?

I never knew you could do a super BT from a RBS issued card.

    Am i reading this right?

Do a BT to a Mint card in Novemeber and its 0% until May '08? If so thats pretty impressive!

EDIT Just re-read it! Its November 2007, not this November! I'll go back to sleep now.....
  • I'm tempted by Capital One's BT offer. Only problem: I've already been there, done that, closing my acount in July 2006. Is it too soon to apply again?

Having been turned down a couple of times (despite a no-default record), I don't want to risk clocking up too many failed applications.

    Any advice / experience welcomed.

Incidentally, my wife still has hers - there seems to be no problem in running 2 at once, despite sharing a surname (and address).

    Thanks for any help.

  • I've just spent ages on the phone trying to get my £60 balance transfer fee refunded. In the end I was fobbed of with a "the balance transfer team will give you a call back after they have looked into it".

This pages does need updating though, as their card no longer does a free balance transfer. MoneySavingExpert _ no fee transfers page

I will call them again in a few days and demand to speak to some one higher up if I have heard nothing.

I'm annoyed that it's cost me £60 but I may have made a mistake and not read the small print.

Need some peace of mind, I just applied to egg money over the phone. I couldnt say i wanted the card to act as SBT, so said i wanted it for the cashback offers and the low APR. It felt like i was lying :( If I get accepted and SBT will there be any negative implications ?

Hello there, I have a couple of cards and hope that someone may be able to offer some advice.

I have an Adams storecard with a balance of £1316.72. I am currently making the mininum monthly payment by direct debit. I did have some trouble with late payments on this card, and would occasionally make 2 payments together until I got this onto DD. apr is 30.9%

I also have a Tesco Credit Card with a balance of £1901.23. The credit limit is £1800 and as I'm also 1 month behind of payments I've been advised that I will not be issued with a new card when this one expires and that I must stop using this one. Thats not an issue as I have already cut up my cards. The apr is 16.9% on purchases and 23.3% on cash advances. Of the balance outstanding £72.24 refers to cash and £1828.99 refers to purchases.

I start a new job on 27 November and my salary will increase from £8k to £25K. Although I will also have to pay out for child care costs and rail fares I will still be left with a salary increase of £7K per annum, I would really like to hit these cards and clear them asap. However, I'm wondering if I could help myself do this by transferring to a 0% card. Would it be possible to do this, as I'm wondering if my late payments would affect my credit history. And if it is possible are there any recommendations?

    Not at all.

    Hi BANNEDfromTV

Welcome to the credit card board!

You may want to have a look at MBNA Platinum Plus or the Virgin Card. Both offer new customers 0% balance transfers for 12 months from account opening. There's a 2% handling charge.

Caution: if you sign up with one of these cards, request the balance transfer to your bank account by phone so you can check the 0% offer will apply. Otherwise you risk being charged for a cash advance which is very expensive.
