  • Hello, I'm new here and find such a massive site a bit confusing so apologies if I've posted this in the wrong place.

I have a Halifax card, the 0% has run out but they still offer BT at 0%. Could I transfer my balance to another card then bounce it back to Halifax to take advantage of their offer?

    Thanks.

    Hi doo

Welcome to MSE & the credit card board!

This will work providing the Halifax 0% balance transfer deal is open to existing customers.

  • Hello, this is my first post so bear with me! Has anyone come a cropper over the Marriott (Halifax) card and the BT fees that have apparently been in force since June 2006? MSE states that it is fee free, to my surprise I found £100+ fees on my first statement. I rang Halifax who quite happily agreed to refund the fees which (to say the least) surprised me.
  • i telephoned virgin credit card with whom i already had an account with but with a nil balance.
i was going to cancel it but on the off chance i asked if there were any balance trandfer deals available. i was offered 0% until may 07 with a capped fee of £75.
i ummed and arred and i said about the other deals available on other cards which were longer periods so then he offered me the 0% transfer until may 07 and dropped the £75 so it has not cost me anything to transfer and no forms to fill out.

    wah hey
  • I want to transfer my overdraft (£4000) to a low life of balance credit card. I want to set up a direct debit so I can start paying it off.
How do I find out which credit cards accept balance transfers from overdrafts? I thought I'd read it on here once, but can't find it now.
    Many thanks.

Unfortunately, this article is not available at present.

If you do not have Egg Money, you will need a credit card issued by Royal Bank of Scotland or MBNA, in addition to the low life of balance card.

  • I have got a Marriott Card and transfered 2k because I was under the impression that it was a free balance transfer (and it is still on the MoneySavingExpert.com Transfers with no fee table).

I have called them and they say they have never done a free balance trasfer "ever". That must be untrue, as how else would it have got in the the above table.

Anyway the person on the phone (at HBOS) was quite helpful and said they would look into it for me but could not guarentee I would get my £60 refunded. (She did admin at the end for the call that a click through can sometimes sometime reward someone with a free transfer depending on the website).

Has anyone else used the Marriott Credit Card?

    ChuckleVision,

What does it say in section 5 of your credit agreement - specifically conditions 5.1 to 5.3?
  • Hi,

I have just finished on the 18month 0% capital one and am looking for a new card (have many others so not much choice left)

Tempters are M&S and morgan stanley 0% 9 mths £50 fee

I have £6500 outstanding, and wondered if someone could tell me how much interest I would accrue over 9 months at the 3.9% (ie is it greater than the Morgan Stanley, or less in which case go for M&S and have no hassle changing again in 9 months)

    All help welcomed

    This site is great !

    Thanks in advance

I'll tell you once I can find it! Very sloppy I know, but I don't know what I have done with it.
