  • Just been looking for a no fee 0% balance transfer from best balance transfer table on this site. Tried Smart Car card - link didnt work; Norwich & Peterborough only accepting applications from existing customers. Been accepted by Britannia but I stated I wanted to transfer £3000 and they only gave me a credit limit of £1200 - I wonder how much they will actually transfer? Also (unless I'm reading it wrong) in terms & conditions it states there is a 3% BT fee - is this right?

If they apply the usual HBoS limit, it'll be no more than 90% - so £1,080

Yes, it looks like they've now adopted the standard HBoS fee structure. See conditions 4.2 & 5.1

However, because there are many different HBoS T&C's/credit agreement formats in circulation, you should take a very close look at yours when they send them. If they say in the T&C's - not the summary box that promotional offers are excluded from the BT fee, then you may be able to get the BT fee-free.

HSBC offering 0% BT until Jan 08....

They're not usually the harshest credit scorers....

Just to let you know, HSBC have another January 'sale' - details will be announced Friday 29th December-their 0% CBT offer has been extended until 2 April 2008 (still only 6 months 0% purchases)

CBT's must be actioned within 30 days of opening the new credit card and there is 2% fee (min £5)

    Hope this helps!

Cap One 0% until April 08. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it already...

As mentioned in the above post, HSBC will be offering the same from 29/12 (along with other promos in their 'Green' sale)
  • I have tried today to BT from M&S credit card to Ulster Bank but they said M&S is on their list as one they cannot BT from.

    Can this be right?

    Thanks in advance.
  • That sounds odd. Ulster Bank (Royal Bank of Scotland) is nothing to do with HSBC (owners of M&S card). I'd ring up and try again!

Just signed up for 0% Barclaycard, has 12 months BT.

Also, if I use it and pay 10% off the balance each month, APR is 9.9%.

Not surprisingly, have BT'd balance on signature below! Very happy with BCard, also given nice large credit limit!

Have also signed up for Nationwide Gold card, offers 0% on purchases for 9 months. Awesome. Can stooze like mad.
    Claiming against Nationwide £2500
    Others to come!

I don't know if it has been mentioned before but ASDA have a new credit card which knocks 2p per litre off their petrol/diesel. No purchase required in the shop to get the discount. As ASDA fuel is usually highly competitive the extra 2p is a real bonus.
There is also 0% on balance transfers for 6 months and 0% on all spending for 6 months.
Also points on shopping and free delivery on £50 plus.
if i had known then what i know now
  • I transferred a BT to ulster bank yesterday and the operator said the transfer fee will be 2.5%.
So maybe this sites listing of ulster bank as fees free needs updating.

Beware if you get one of these CCs. They make it very difficult to pay. N&P won't take a payment in their branch (tried 2 different ones) they direct you to Halifax (who run the N&P CC). Halifax also won't / can't take they payment as when they put the details into their branch system to comes up "Invalid card" Asked to see the Halifax branch manager and showed him the payment slip which clearly shows the CC number and the payee as Halifax so he called the CC call centre who said just put it in the post - what at this time of the year to get their for first week in January - I think not! or set up a DD, but agreed that it wouldn't be set up in time to take the payment. Catch 22. Think I may have now sorted it with a payment from my online bank account but surprise surprise the Norwich and Peterborough CC is not on the list of about 100 recognised credit cards. Has taken me almost 2 hours today to get it sorted, plus petrol into town, has used up all my saving of the 6 months fee free 0% BT.
