The Primark in the MetroCentre most definitely put your items in bags on the assistant's side of the till and then hand them over to you. It annoys the heckity heck out of me because I always think I'm going to be ripped off, just like the poor OP has been - allegedly....
  • It does Jeff, certainly in Primark because of the way the counters are set up any bags of bulky items wont fit. They wont hand to the customer until payment is received so they put the bags on floor on their side of the counter.

Its largely just a primark phenomenon.

How very odd. on their side of the counter yes but not the floor surely?

Good job i dont shop there then! Mind the missus does from time to time-will have to let her know
    :)

Yes on the floor. Quite hard to tell from this pic:

But as you can (just about) see there is no room to store filled bags on the counter and the small shelf in front isn't wide enough, so staff do put them down on the floor at their feet behind the counter, then pass them over to you before you leave.

Incidentally, I've never seen an empty primarni counter hehe
  • PT, that picture looks like a pixie on a ski jump to me, now where did I put my glasses

But the OP has said that they had put the bag down on the floor by the till worker. This doesnt happen in shops.

Yes it does, I was in Oxford street Primark yesterday and they did exactly that.

Do they wash the clothes then or just put them back on the rails? This shop sounds too much though given how cheap they are its no suprise.

I have a love/hate relationship with my Primark. 3 floors of mayhem usually that I try and avoid, but occasionally I realise that I have to venture out and clothes shop rather than just do it online :p Everything is everywhere, take no notice what the size is on the hanger because that in no way collates to the size of the clothing hung on it. If said item of clothing is a size 12 then it will only fit you generally if you are a size 10 (though this can work either way, sized up or down) either way, clothing is never a standard size.

Milling around the store with various expressions ranging from shock and panic to complete disinterest are several young members of staff who endeavour to make some order from the piles of clothing on the floor. This is akin to trying to hang washing in a hurricane.

Head for the shoe department where you can play a wonderful game of "find the left shoe" as you grasp the last size 7 boot anywhere in the store and desperately search for its 'sole' mate.

Fear not though, should things get too much for you, you can always head over to homewear, which for some very strange reason is usually a den of tranquillity.

I've a love/hate thing with primark as well.

I hate shopping in general- I buy mainly online except for some groceries. I like bargins though, but queueing behind 40 people on a Sunday afternoon is horrible!
