Biscit T&Cs - new termination charge

Was just about to sign up for Biscit Home freemax - bundled broadband and home phone, when I noticed the following in the Terms and Conditions:

'6.6 Residential Customers ordering products after 1st September 2006 ("New Residential Customers¨) shall be subject to the following variations of Clause 6, namely:

6.6.1 There will be no minimum contract period.

6.6.2 If a New Residential Customer wishes to discontinue the service, they should complete the Cancellation Request Form described in 6.2 above and send it to Biscit with a termination fee of £70 (including VAT). On receipt of cleared funds, the termination will be deemed to have taken place at the next invoice date. If the Residential Customer requires a Migration Authorisation Code ("MAC¨) then an administration fee of £35 (including VAT) will apply, payable with the termination fee.'

Looks like a serious lock in with a permenant £105 ransom. I've emailed them to confirm, so will post further if I get a reply. Maybe I'll try somebody else! (Can't get Talk Talk, so will go for separates)

    Don't Biscit use LLU?

I believe the termination fee is about average what BT would charge Biscit to swap over your line from Biscit back to BT again so although it seems unfair Biscit do incur this charge from BT and because you're on no minimum term contract then Biscit can't guarantee they can recoup any fees charged by BT so therefore they pass such fees directly to their customers.

This is common especially for those companies that don't have minimum term contracts. At least with a minimum term contract, the company concerned is guaranteed to have you as a customer for the period of the minimum term so they can recoup the costs that BT charge them.

I believe its more unfair when customers have disconnection fees like this but are still stuck to a minimum term contract.
