I'm probably way out of my depth here... but...
My laptop's C drive only has 4gb of space left.
But it says that the Data E drive has 54 GB of space left.
Is there a way of moving this around so there is more space on the C drive?
Thanks

cut and paste some of your data from c to e!!

Is drive E a partition on your main or only Hard Drive, or some other kind of drive?
I'd normally expect a primary drive to be partitioned into C: and
unless you've been renaming them..... 0 -

Hi
Think it's just a partition. It's how the laptop was set up. I haven't changed or added anything.

OK; as was said previously, move data like pictures, word docs, spreadsheets, music files, using Cut/Paste from folders on your C: drive to folders on your E: drive.
Don't move anything unless you know what you're moving, so that you don't accidentally move important system files etc.0 -
Running Windows Vista?
http://www.vistarewired.com/2007/02/16/how-to-resize-a-partition-in-windows-vista
Shrink the E drive, and extend the C drive into the newly freed up space.0 -
if you have installed more softwares on C drive then just uninstall them and install it on other drive.0

Resizing partitions can be a bit on the technical side and definitely backup anything important before doing so.
Like suggested above move and data, pics.music, videos etc.. also uninstall any programs you never use via control panel / add remove programs.
Ccleaner is a free programme for freeing up diskspace often left behind by windows disk cleaner utility. It can be downloaded from piriform.com/.
After moving and cleaning up as much as you can, it’s always good practise to run a registry cleaner to remove invalid entry’s and such.
Cleaning the registery also has the added advantage of fixing a few problems and in general speeds up the computer.
Ccleaner has a decent windows registry cleaner built in as well. Another very good free registry cleaner is Eusing can be found here
eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm
Both of them have the option to backup the registry before cleaning always better to be safe than sorry.
After all that make sure to run a disk defrag programme.
All being well you should have gained a bit of space and the computer should be a little faster with it’s nice cleaned up drive.0 -
I'm afraid many people feel that 'cleaning the registry' does almost nothing to 'speed up the computer'. On occasion, it can cause problems. Of the registry cleaners available, CCleaner is one of the least aggressive and is thus less likely to cause such problems. After moving and cleaning up as much as you can, it’s always good practice to run a registry cleaner to remove invalid entries and such.

I suggest the OP examines where the disk space is being used by running TreeSize Free.0 -

I do agree in most cases cleaning the registry does little to speed up a computer but in some cases such as an older machine that has had a lot of programmes installed and then uninstalled it does significantly speed up the loading process of windows as it does not have to load so much information at start-up.
As I said in the previous post, both reg cleaners have the option to make a backup of the registry so if after cleaning any problems do occur all changes can be recovered.0
