Unfair negative feedback?

People wanting payment? Whatever next? Honest used car salesmen maybe? Nah.
  • I had been a casual user of EBay, bought about thirty items over 4 year period and sold two items. I had a 100% feedback history which was destroyed recently after a scammer gave me a neg feedback.
I even won the resolution case and had £130 returned to me from EBay. They told me that they only remove neg feedback if it is libelous or deflamatory. The advise given to me by EBay was to answer the neg feedback with my comment.

Yes the negative feedback is still in place, so I have closed my account. EBay is a haven for Crooks, scammers and fraudsters and EBay actions only encourage it even further.

I don't often find myself completely in agreement with you, but that does seem the case doesn't it?

I'm no brain of britain but I seem to manage, and giving up after 2 sales because the whole place is full of crooks seems rather odd. I do believe though that this goes back to my often mentioned rant that it should be made harder for people to just sign up and use ebay, they should at least have to prove they know the basics before they list a single item for sale.

I can sympathise with the frustration over the scammer though, I had a series of negs that were from a wrecker and I was mortified. One was obviously a mistake (neg FB with a positive comment) but the other two were completely petty and I was so ashamed because I tried hard to keep my account in good standing and I love selling; I've mostly had a positive experience. I gave up completely for a while. After a bit someone emailed me to say that he had been targetted by the same person and they were a wrecker. eBay wouldn't remove the negs though purely on my request, so I had to start over with a new account. Maybe I should have been more persistent.

I now only use one account to buy and one account to sell, but had it not been for six good years behind me using the site I may have felt like Traveller. I do agree though, it's silly to just let people get to you. As long as you got the money you were scammed out of back, there is always the thing about "it may just not be for you". It's not always as easy as it looks.

I picked up a stalker once, I suspect I was rather too open on here about what I was selling. Caused no end of mischief, spoilt it for me for a few weeks but ebay were marvellous and I ended up with no stain at all on my feedback.

I certainly don't know it all, but certainly more respectful than you.
My annoyance is with EBay and their reluctance to act against an individual when the evidence was overwelming against him.

I was disrespectful as you were making a judgement based on tiny experience. As an ebay seller, I object to your statement. The entire business world is a haven for scammers etc.
If you want respect, grow up.
  • Why are you so disrespectful to people?

Learn to be tolerant of other points of view, or are you getting too old to care.

That explains why you are so vague about your activities....
What a pity that there are people like that out there! Glad it was sorted.

I would say people always moan about eBay, PayPal etc etc. But if they did not exist what would be the alternative?
Lots of businesses would not even exists!
