Unfair negative feedback?

Hi, a buyer won one of my item over 3 weeks ago but never paid. On my listing i ask for payment within 3 days of auction ending but after 3 weeks i messaged them to say, no payment received therefore i am now listing. They never replied. So i re-listed and sold the item.
But yesterday the buyer left me negative feedback stating 'item still not received'! I am so annoyed! Over 3 years i've had 100% feedback but due to this i don't. She hadn't even paid yet that's why it was never sent out! Can't understand why they will leave me negative?! I've emailed them to question her/him and also contacted ebay to remove the negative feedback but no reply yet.
Anyone had a negative feedback remove successfully? What are my chances? Thanks

If you opened a non paying bidder dispute and closed it without the buyer responding you should be able to get it removed. If you didn't it is unlikely that ebay will but worth a try.
Just to add it's pretty pointless stating payments must be made with 3 days as how would you enforce this? You cant open a Non paying bidder till day 4 and you cant close that till day 8 so in reality buyers have 7 days to pay.0 -
Thanks for your reply cyberbob, guess i am still clueless when it comes to Ebay, I never opened a unpaid dispute so i might not have a chance then. Looking back maybe that was what i should of done to unpaid items but i was being very patient and waiting for them to pay but after 3 weeks i gave up and relisted, (while informing them too). Just very annoying! Thanks for your advice.
Just waiting on a reply form Ebay, hoping it won't be too long!
Does anyone know how long will it take to rebulid back to 100%? Because of this 1 negative i am down to 99.7%.0 -
If you do the dispute successfully and give them a strike, then that should be removed anyway.
Otherwise you would be looking at needing another 2000 positive feedbacks to cancel out that one neg."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I spoke with someone from Ebay on the phone and was told to do a unpaid items dispute but i don't think that will work as i no longer have the item so if they did paid it will be pointless? Am i right in thinking that? Just don't understand why someone will leave a negative claiming item never received when i've been waiting for payment and informed them about the situation too. I just hope this 1 negative won't stop people buying from me.0

So you've resold the item?
It would definitely have been better to do the dispute first.
It's difficult sometimes to know exactly what to do, but if the buyer does pay, then you would be stuck, as the neg would not be removeable. In my experience, some people (not many) get confused with eBay and think when the auction ends they have automatically paid, as happens on a lot of other sites. That's kind of how I understand how this happens. It's the buyer's fault, as they didn't learn how to use eBay before they started shopping there, but on the other hand, the dispute process helps by reminding people to pay and then giving them a strike if they don't pay in the time available, so that's your responsibility.
Reply calmly and factually to the neg - that should help repair some of the damage. Next time, don't wait too long, and don't relist items before the dispute closes, otherwise you will get into difficulties."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Thanks Crowqueen for your time. This is def a lesson learned, in future i won't wait that long. I have replied to the feedback hoping people can see past that as i've got over 460 positives.. I am kinda hoping there is a chance ebay will remove otherwise i will have to ask the buyer to revise her/his feedback. Which i find unlikely has yesterday was the first time i heard from them in weeks. Thanks all!0

I received 2 negs ages ago from the same buyer, he hadn't paid and the negs were abusive, so ebay removed it straight away.
Since then I have done some bad trading (online stuff to download). Ebay removed the listing after a few days, but I sold some and received negative feedback from that which im stuck with
Lesson learnt. Iv started selling physical goods lately and got positive feedback from that and the bad feedback is over a year old, so hopefully it won't scare off to many people.Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. Yet, as we scoff at our groping ancestors, so our descendants will surely scoff at us.

I'd just open an unpaid item dispute. If he doesn't pay in 4 days, then close it and have the neg removed.
If he does pay, then do nothing. He can then open an item not received dispute, and you can say it got lost in the post and just refund him. He's already left a negative, so can't do anything else!
In the mean time, just respond to the neg saying "buyer didn't pay for item, hence I didn't send it".Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I see what you are saying pinkshoes but i don't think i am that brave! lol! I will wait for ebay to reply (fingers crossed) then last resort ask the 'buyer' to change their feedback. If not, its not the end of the world as DH would say! Just i hate these kind of things, i am a bit of a worrier especially as i feel i haven't done anything wrong. If they had paid i would of sent, so all a bit confusing and it doesn't help matters that they are not responding either... Thanks again guys!0

I bought something last week and on the invoice it said "Payment to be made within 24 hours". It was all in capital letters too which made it more annoying. So after the 2nd invoice, I paid for the item on day 4 just to irritate them and for using the CaPs LoCk...0
