Thanks for your comments Iris and Pammy - I guess we all have our little eccentricities!

Been a strange week so far, busy home life but thankfully quieter at work. My grandma's hip is healing well, but she is deteriorating (mentally) in hospital. Not making much sense now, although there are glimmers of the old her at times and I just hope that when she is out of hospital she regains some of her old self.

Near miss car accident tonight on way to hospital. I was on the roundabout, a car A on slip road onto it stopped at give way lines because of my presence but car B behind her carried on, shunting car A into rounabout and my path - I honestly thought we'd hit each other - slammed brakes on and (stupidly) closed my eyes - stopped and opened my eyes and when I got out of the car realised there was a whisker between the two!!! Car A driver badly shook up and in tears and panic attack, car B drove off!!! So angry it happened, a car behind him saw what he was doing and tried to chase him, but too much traffic and he couldn't track him down. I was really in control at scene, helping Car A get details/photos as she was so shook up, but as soon as I got in my car I broke down. Since car accident a couple of weeks ago I have been such a nervous driver and felt like I cannot control all that happens to me and this has reinforced it.

Anyway, came on here to distract me and to chat to Billy about the new Ipad (but then saw his sad news). Will read a few diaries and hopefully find some cheer!

Sorry for the non MFW ramblings!!!! I will be back on the £ saving soon!

Signature Update - Mortgage interest has now dropped to £9.82 a day - a saving of £17.82 A DAY  since I changed started my journey (although £12.20 of that is due to a change of mortgage product).

Everything else is just ticking along, work has been a little quieter which is good because it has meant more time to spend with family and visit my grandma.

But as I have less to do I have been less motivated - my flat looks like a tip! And despite having got a slow cooker a few weeks ago it is still in the box (and have had two takeaways this week). I have also been lurking a lot (too much) on here. I need to make a to do list and get motivated!

On the spending front still not booked my holidays - just can't decide where to go! And now toying with the idea of buying an IPad (or Ipad2) but not sure about the lack of USB ports.

Off to have a peek at other diaries and then I must start work!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Hi babyb,

Just caught up with your diary - page 3 is a nightmare (barring the holiday, OPs (I'm all for the rounding as you know!!) and new kitchen) - I hope you're suing everyone in sight after your car accident. Woe betide the person that sees fit to run into me one day as I'm pretty good at winning in court.

So pleased for you on the mortgage front. That saving every day is brilliant. How is your Granny? Hope things are improving for her. As for holidays, may I recommend Vegas for a nice relaxing time...

    Cheers,

    Billy

It is amazing how a little sunshine can put a spring in your step!

After a few months of finding it difficult to get the energy for even small amounts of tidying/organising, the sun has given me the push I needed to get motivated! :j

So, lots of tidying, numerous bin bags of rubbish, a couple of bags for the charity shop, a (relationship testing!) trip to Ikea and my home looks good!

I have spent the day putting up flat pack furniture and my OH has done the food shopping and is now cooking me dinner (the only dish he knows - spag bol, mmmmm!). Total role reversal in our house!:rotfl:

I am feeling positive for the first time in a while, only now that I feel so energised can I realise just how low I have been the last couple of months - poor OH!

Have made a couple of OP's too, so looking forward to posting my end of March figures later in week.

End of March total - £1960 paid off total.

    I am blitzing my 2011 MFW target of £12250 - now at £7560/12250 - 61.75%!!!!

£10,000 of that target is repayment of a loan from my Grandma, but it looks like I won't have to pay that back. My Grandma's health has deteriorated greatly and it looks like she will have to go in a home and because she has scrimped and saved all her life (a true MSE) she has a healthy savings pot which will now all be used to pay for her care home fees. Anyway as the money was given to me before it was known she would need a home (and it has been described as a gift) it doesn't need to be returned (although I may in the future give the money to my aunts as it was 'their' inheritance). We will wait and see, for the moment I will keep saving it in offset account and not officially o/p it off mortgage.

Thankfully the small fortune in care home fees does pay for a lovely place.

    A non-MSE post!

I have decided to join Slimming World - I need to lose weight, it has gotten out of control! Previously, I have always lost weight through exercise as I have no self-control to diet, but I was unable to exercise because of an ankle injury throughout 2010, recovering in Jan 2011 only to be in a car accident in Feb that cause an injury to my ankle again, it looks like exercise isn't going to happen for a while!

Have been toying with signing up to SW or WW for a while, but haven't wanted to because of cost and thinking I would get back to exercise soon, but on Friday the hospital put me in a lower leg plaster cast as it doesn't seem to be healing on its own. So a frustrated BabyB has signed up to SW online. I am going to figure out how SW works and then order an online shop and fingers crossed the weight loss will start!

Going to be an expensive month as I will have to rely on taxis a lot for work and cannot shop around, only do online shops but it will be worth it if my ankle is fixed!

Hope everyone has had a lovely mother's day!

    Hey BabyB :j

I highly recommend SW..I have done it and lost more than 2st without too much effort..Please feel free to ask questions as much as you want..You will love it.. It will take a few days to get your head around how it works, but after that its loss, loss, loss..

Well done on taking the first step, you won't regret it..

    Thanks Froggy!

Elantan - I can't manage it - that was Iris Blue (who I believe shops wisely and does a lot of home cooking), I recommend reading her post and ChaMichelle97 for grocery budget tips - both very friendly and willing to answer questions! I have cut down on my grocery spends by looking at offers, doing more bulk buys (2 for 1's etc) and cooking a little more from scratch - still lots more for me to do!
