Great news!
Its funny how everything works out in the end.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Wow! It's been ages since my last post. Didn't post last weekend as I had nothing new to report - but did a lot of lurking!
My re-mortgage is all approved and will kick in ready for my November payment. No O/P's since the big £13,000 was paid off! I now am concentrating my efforts on saving the £10k i need to repay in my offset account (not much so far!)
Have been good with the NSD's and have started to make soups now it has gotten colder and been taking my flask with me - filling, healthy and cheap! Let's hope it makes a difference to my waist line!
Reason I have soooo much time to post tonight is that I am waiting for pans of water to boil on the stove to make a bath - my boiler has broken!!!! Just my luck when the cold spell has really kicked in! Plumber came out yesterday, but has had to order a part, so will be friday before it is fixed - and it won't be cheap! The whole system needs draining down apparently, but to save money the plumber is going to come in the morning and start the process and then my mum is going to be here to babysit the boiler (I can't get time off work) and ensure it drains ok without leaking all over the floor and then the plumber will come back a couple of hours later (otherwise would have to pay them to sit here for a couple of hours) - so a bit of MSE! And my amazing mum has said that there is no point in her sitting here twiddling her thumbs so if i get all my washing done she will iron it all for me!!!! Need cheery thoughts like that when I will have hundreds of pounds to pay out!
Hit a problem with the kitchen too - turns out the worksurface ordered was too small and it would be an extra £200 for the required size, cue lots of haggling and a mention that the whole order would have to be cancelled and we have got it to £80 extra! My OH was cringing at the things I said, but £120 saved!
So all in all not a great week! These things are meant to try us I guess!Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -

More bad news - I popped to town on Friday evening to buy something from Boots (they had promised to honour the £12 points offer for an extra day for me as they had sold an item I had reserved on Thursday) but that money saving trip ended up costing lots of money and causing stress as my iPhone was stolen!
So I feel cut off from the world, upset at having lost all my photos and memos (I organise my life on there) and stupid for not having backed anything up!
Plus my OH has told me he can't afford to pay his half of the boiler repair yet and isn't sure when he can - lots of expensive times coming up with Christmas and all he said - I know - that is why I want your half back! Grrrrrr!!!!!
Lots of bad times ATM, but my neice did come round today to give me a butterfly gingerman she had seen in the shop and insisted her mummy buy it for me to cheer me up - she'd even sprinkled hundreds and thousands all over it to look extra pretty so I smile even more. And it did put a smile on my face!
So moan over! November has to be a better month!Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -
Last line of my previous post "November has to be a better month!" has not come true!
Since I started this diary I seem to be plauged with bad luck - everything that can go wrong has and so haven't posted recently, although still been lurking!
Newest disaster was last week, my car broke down at the mouth of the M1 miles from home - cost to repair £780!!! Logically I know I should say, it is the first major repair my car has needed in the 4 years I have had it, but that is little consilation at the moment.
On the plus point I have still been strict with myself and put money into my offset account towards £10k target and made myself pay for the repairs from my spends/not saving any extra for my holiday - normally I would not make the o/p and keep my spends the same, so this diary has helped focus me in that way.
I am now fully in the Christmas spirit and desperate to decorate my home!!! OH and I were tempted to put up a few decorations over the weekend as we have a Christmas movie marathon, but thought against it when we realised the kitchen fitters are coming tomorrow to sort the worktops and would think us very strange! I cannot believe how long it has taken to fix a date to fit them!
I have decided to make some hampers for christmas and so spent some time playing around with chutney recipes and fudge recipes. the chutney was a success, the fudge not so as it didn't go hard - the gloopy mixture does taste great though! also made some raspberry vodka and toffee vodka a couple of weeks ago and tasted them this weekend - mmmmm - that was fun!Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -
My name is BabyB and I am a MFW addict!
My first interest payment on the new mortgage went out yesterday (only half a month because of date I took mortgage) leaving the balance at £150,027.07 and last night that non-round number bugged me so much that this morning i HAD to o/p the £27.07! The fact I can see my mortgage online is great, but I can see this being a problem too - when I make my mini o/p's on a firday of what is in my current account under £10 I will have another non-round number.......hmmmm, the addiction is taking hold! :rotfl:Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -
Here's to many more mini OP's to keep your mortgage rounded
I see that your fudge didn't set which I think is a sign for you to make some millionaires shortbread

Woo hoo! My kitchen is finished - they kept re-arranging the start date and the one day job took three days but it is done and looks lovely! :j
I am so happy with it - anything would be a huge improvement after the blackened, rotting wood that was there but even though it was a MSE job, you can't tell.
Unfortunately I have woken full of a cold and with a sore throat but lots to do today but as I all the things are fun I will keep with it.:D -- take Neice to her school fair,
- go to john lewis and get bag I left there (oops!) when shopping last week that some lovely person handed in :T
- buy secret santa present for early Christmas party next weekend
- finish off all the bits for the Elf that Santa is sending to my neice and nephew - as I am away for almost 2 weeks in December I need to write all of his journal entries for the 24 days and think of things he is going to do each day - I have loved organising this! Think it is more for me than them:rotfl:!
- buy a Christmas tree (have had a real one in the past but as we are away for much of December it may die) have looked at a few fake ones but not impressed with what is out there (don't want to pay too much as it will be for one year only)
- do some paperwork
First to shower and see if I can make myself feel more human!Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -
I have made a few little o/p's this week, but don't want to risk any big ones until the New Year - with my holiday to NYC(!!!!) and then Christmas I will be away quite abit, not able to juggle money between accounts and December isn't usually a good month for payments coming in (people always seem too busy to pay invoices.......!). So, going to leave all the money in my current account, but as that is linked to my mortgage offset I will still save interest - yeah - i love offset!
So, moneywise all going ok. I just need to get more organised with everything else now - I have no motivation for paperwork or housework but lots and lots to do - the tasks seem pretty insurmountable now and so I am avoiding them - not good I know!Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -
Updated signature......my daily interest has come down lots and lots (yippee!) due to the offset mortgage. It should go down again in January, but I need to pay the tax man on 30 January, so interest element will go up after that, but it is amazing to think that I am paying almost 2/3's less in interest than when I started 6 months ago.
Also had a windfall payment of £1000 that was totally unexpected so have put that straight into O/P account to repay family loan.
Back from NYC after an amazing holiday, but spent far less than my budget, so this may go to O/P account in the New Year, but at the moment I am keeping it in reserve just in case I overspend over Christmas. Spent the day wrapping presents - 24 done, only 10 to go!
Out tonight with friends, secret santa present ready and then tomorrow is my work's Christmas party - lots of fun times and then Christmas Eve! Officially the best day of the year - I love the excitement and the anticipation of Christmas Day.
