    What benefits is he claiming?
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

  • I would imagine that this kind of savings would mean that the job centre can estimate if he doesn't make another penny he can live comfortably, without aid, for the next 6 years....

I would report him and claim any reward actually
  • A quick credit check by HMRC and/or DWP will show the accounts. He will then be ordered to show the statements.

Grass him up. I'm sick to the back teeth of scum claiming benefits that are there for those genuinely in need of them.

Also pass on my thanks for helping to screw up the financial situation of the UK. It's not just the banks to blame.

If he claiming JSA contributions then he is allowed to have the money, only income based JSA needs to declare savings.
I agree with the others if he doing wrong he will get caught, just give them a hand to catch him quicker if his claiming money he isn't entitled to.

I dunno, when my partner was made redundant he had to declare his redundancy money.

He couldn't claim as he got 3 months wages in lieu and then the rest he had to put as savings, and yes it did affect our NI based JSA, only by £4 a week, so i can only imagine how £40 grand would affect it lol!

He shouldn't be claiming any benefits with this amount of savings and if they knew then they wouldn't let him.

Things like this do make me mad, i had a 'friend' who claimed she was a single parent and got a nice council house, income support, etc when really her partner was living with her all along and not working either but saying he still lived with his mum!
Made me angry when they use to go on holidays every year and buy a new PC, TV etc and me and my partner were struggling working full time on low wages -.-

Grass em in i say, its our taxes paying for him ! (unless your 'friend' is really you and your wondering if you will get caught out, in which case you should be ashamed!)
  • Can they get him after he has ssigned off?

yes,as he will still have commited fraud,it could lead to a criminal record or even as healy points out prison

Not all bank accounts turn up on credit checks, such as basic ones with no credit facilities.

The JC will receive details of interest on bank accounts,
is that really how they check by being told you have paid interest on your account? my bank has stopped crediting interest to my bank account. so to me there seems to be an obvious flaw. not that i would try and defraud dwp anyway.

I know that's one way, as I was recently called in to ask about some interest that the Inland Revenue had reported to the DWP. (It had accrued while in work & not on benefits).
