Can a bathroom not have a toilet ?

This is probably the silliest question of all...

I had a viewing today of a studio flat but due to enormous pressure to find a place before my final year uni course starts, as soon as I saw it and viewed it I just signed it.

Here I am back at home wondering if i saw a toilet in the bathroom ? I distinctly remember a small but clean tub and sink but dont remember seeing a toilet.

Its a small studio flat so I went with low expectation but the clean bathroom kinda threw me away.. its all in my head right ?... Please people assure me that its unlikely not to have a toilet...

Thanks.

    If it's self-contained there'll be a loo.

What sort of building was it part of? Did you approach it like a block of flats? Or did it seem more "house like". I bet you just didn't notice it.

The deal usually is that they'll squeeze a loo/shower in first... you tend to only get a bath if you're really lucky because that takes up more room.

thanks... its one of those Georgian listed houses.... the studio itself is lodged between two floors and looked as if the owner converted the garage into a studio.

Yes if there is a toilet elsewhere you can use in the property.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

If it's a studio flat then you need to have a toilet.

It should be in the bathroom but if it isn't then there could be what looks like a full size cupboard door behind which is your toilet.

Alternatively in one of the converted houses I lived in some of the studio's had toilets for their own use in the corridors. So the occupants had to come out of their flat to use the toilet.

Why not phone up the landlord/agent and ask? I lived in flats in a couple of big buildings like that (granted it was a good few years ago!) and the bathrooms were separate from the flat, so it isn't impossible.

You'll probably find the bathroom door was opened, the agent said "bathroom", you went "OK" ... the the loo was behind the opened door all along.
  • I used to rent a one bed flat with quite a large bathroom that had no toilet. Sewerage pipes were at the other end of the building so landlord didn't want the expense of putting one into the bathroom at the front.

Had to use the one downstairs. I would definitely check just to be on the safe side.
