We use around 14 kwh per day on electric and pay £85 a month for both

We have large tv, dishwasher, washing machine on every day and 3 pcs and couple of tvs during evening and pc on

We used 32 units of gas which is 365Kwh (32*40.1186*1.02264/3.6) when you convert it

Once a day for half an hour - that is more than 2200 kWh per year. Add on more for summer and evening showers and more than half your annual consumption could be from your shower.

BTW, an energy monitor can send you a bit doolal, once you start monitoring it becomes "OCD", but you cant really do much about your consumption once you only use what you need, when you switch everything off at night, set washers/driers on timers to work during cheap rate,etc,etc, whats left?

theres also a gadget that can switch a lot of appliances off (instead of standby) utilising your current TV remote, handy if you have TV/DVD/recorder/home hub/etc all fed off a 6 way extension!
