It's advice mickey. not advise.
This is not an opinion, it's a fact. As one poster said, it's a very important subject. Just happens that I can give advice on it, as I still deal with HMRC on a part time basis.
Anything else to offer on this post mickey?

I'm confused now this is directly off the form used for registration available for download. SE1 it's on page 9

That seems to say you have 3 months leeway. Anyway it's apples and oranges, Banana's and Mangos anyone self employed should register as soon as possible no matter what the rules are. My guess is even the HMRC don't know and it depends which bit of paperwork you read.

I agree, most organisations seem to be pretty clueless about this kind of thing and the only way to know for sure is to make sure your behind is covered.

If in doubt, don't do it.

I can give some advice for a recent registration, i started dabbling in selling back in january i informed hmrc in march and you just get asked 'what date did you start trading' and fill it in. It does give some blurb about the 3mth time frame.

With the OP question, do make sure if you're selling designer goods that they are the real thing, there's an awful lot of fakes out there. Selling fakes could land you in serious trouble.

No need to be confused about this. Always either contact HMRC to ask, or a professional. Don't rely on advice on a forum, including mine. I could be anybody.
Definitely don't rely on advice given by somebody who has merely mastered googling though.
The reason I was able to charge £300 per hour was just such a subject as this. There are countless bits of info, a lot of them in HMRC's own guidelines, which are not supported by legislation. Unless you deal with the top echelons of the tax department, they don't know much of it.

Spelling was fine mickey - grammar not so. You think it's ok to leave people with the wrong info? I give advice on things I know about. It's what this forum is for. I've also learned a fair bit on here. If you have anything to add to the post, and you know what you are talking about, go ahead.
None of this is "ranting". Wrong information on this subject can and has led to severe penalties.

Just a thought, but wrong information in this case would only lead to a penalty surely if it were your info that were wrong. If you have three months to register, but choose to do so immediately, how does that result in a charge. Macfly, you are one nasty person by the way. Your posts are sooo rude. Is there anybody left who talks to you outside of cyberspace? You have my sympathy, anybody that angry all the time has some serious personal issues. You need a cuddle.
