Good Luck JoWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0

Okay, slightly more time to explain this morning.
As most of you know, I've been wanting to get out of my relationship with ex-OH (that sounds good) for many many years, not laying sole blame as half of it's me because I let it happen but he is the reason that I have had a drinking problem for the last 18 years. It came to a head last September when I discovered he'd been seeing another woman, two different women in fact and I confronted him in November. The entire relationship then became a lie to every one outside because I would come home and sit in my kitchen until bedtime, kids came out every now and then, apart from that I was a hermit. Couldn't bear to be in the same room as him, drinking esculated, I was so lonely.
Then I met my soulmate:smileyhea
Just before Christmas this was, we are work colleagues. We had been good mates since I started my job in April last year. At xmas I decided I liked him (a bit) and we continued to be good mates until a couple of months ago I thought he might like me too (a bit
). Then next thing you know, and I have no idea how it happened, we clicked.
I feel a bit wrong ranting on here about ex-OH (still sounds good) flaunting himself about as when you're in a glass house and all that. And trying to justify myself here, he was just out to get a bit of 'how's your father', I stumbled into a good friendship which turned in to an amazing friendship which has now turned into a life long relationship.
He is older than me, quite a bit older than me, he's 64, I'm 39. We have discussed this over and over and we both agree that it doesn't matter. We could be both 21 but you don't know what the future holds and how long you've got together. We have decided that we want to enjoy every day of the rest of the time we have together, have fun and do things that we've always wanted to do and go places that we've always wanted to visit.
He has an almost identical past to me in that he has just come out of a 20 year relationship and has been shut away in his room for the past few years, coming home and not talking to a soul until he got to work the next morning.
On Monday evening I was sat in my kitchen and just so fed up and so I decided to leave. I got the kids in one at a time and spoke to them to say that I was going away for a few days (didn't want to tell them it was forever just yet), packed a couple of bags and walked out. I drove straight round to my new partners house, I was racked with sobs because of the kids and because the realisation that I'd finally done it.
Ex-OH is being an utter Twot at the moment and trying to make things difficult, he doesn't know where I am yet. I took the kids out to Mcds last night and explained to them properly that I love them and will speak to them everyday. They seemed happier with that and I certainly felt more happy last night knowing that they are alright.

That's great news jo, really happy for you.
When you say you've followed a similar life pattern, does that mean he understands your liking for.....goat curry?;)
It'll be interesting to see how your ex copes with the domestic situation.0
