As far as I am aware M&S gift cards are all of the plastic variety and so I'd assume that we are talking about one card not 5x£10 vouchers.

    The OP said "vouchers".

True. Sometimes people use vouchers, tokens and gift cards to mean the same thing.
"What are gift cards? Gift cards are the new gift vouchers...."

However, it seems there are such things as paper M&S vouchers so I may well have been wrong in my assumption - especially as the OP used "vouchers" plural.

I think I would be asking my daughter when is she coming to take me to M&S so that I can spend her present! If it's the thought that counts when a gift is given, the daughter hasn't put much thought into this present. Perhaps when she realises that the present wasn't of use to her Mum, she will have the vouchers back to spend herself and give Mum money instead.

I may be wrong, but i've been told that M & S vouchers, as opposed to M & S giftcards, are now obsolete, and i believe you had to use them before a certain date. I would just check with M & S, as you may have a wasted journey.

Like i say, i may be wrong. I hope i'm wrong.

I just used some M&S paper vouchers yesterday, I got them a couple of months ago using my Goldfish Credit Card points. I didn't actually look on them for an expiry date, but I have never seen one on previous vouchers.

Thanks for that info. Maybe the person who told me, was misinformed. I don't think they were expiry dated. I had just been told they had phased them out, in favour of the giftcard.

One useful point about the giftcards, i know for sure, and its something you have to read in the very, very small print. If you have a gift card and you are 'accumulating ', maybe for a larger item, beware. If you don't use your giftcard within 2 years, the whole of your ' accumalation ', will longer exist. Gone for ever. Its shocking. So if you are planning to do this, make sure you keep ' re activating your card ' , otherwise you're in for a huge disappointment. Re activating entails purely having the card swiped, say, to check your balance. You don't have to spend anything. But do make sure you don't put it away for a rainy day, and forget about it.

It is not the food that is a problem, OP says the store is over 60 miles away.

I am wondering where the OP lives. I didn't think you could live anywhere in England that is 60 miles from an M & S shop
especially as they now have Simply Food shops in some petrol filling stations.
    Born to shop;)
  • Our local Simply Food at the garage wont accept giftcards/vouchers :(
Could OP use the vouchers for mail order?
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation ;)
